Group protests
revision of
subdivision
Of three subdivision plats
which developers submitted fot-
revision to Johnson County
Commissioners Monday morn-
ing, only one was approved. One
denial of revision of a plat was
met with applause by about 25
property owners who appeared
in the courtroom.
Regarding the Pet. 4 develop-
ment owned by K.D. Pool, com-
missioners granted the request to
increase the size of lots ot the
Southern Acres subdivision plat.
Receiving denials were both X-
Cell Ranch Estates in Pet. 2,
owned by Raymond Dragoo; and
Trailwood Estates, a Pet. 3 sub-
division owned by Doris Gray
and located about three miles
south of Burleson off 1-35.
The latter subdivision is the
one which drew a lot of fire from
property owners who were dis-
satisfied and were protesting the
revision and other actions of
the developer.
The property owners, who had
retained attorney Bob Mahanay
to represent their interests in the
commissioners courtroom, ex-
pressed their opinion that the
developer had knowingly violated
her deed restrictions. One mem-
ber of (he group said he had
bought a house but the septic
system wasn’t even on his
property.
Pet. I Commissioner Billy Roe
said he recognized the people
had problems, but that com-
missioners court wasn't the court
to air their complaints. County
Judge Wavne Bridewell said, "If
a seller has misrepresented
something to you, then I recom-
mend you get a lawyer.’’
On the basis of not meeting the
minimum lot size requirements,
commissioners denied the re-
quest made by the developer for
revisions to the plat
Action was postponed on ap-
proval of the final plat of Phase
II of Nolan River Estates, a Pet. 1
development, owned by Wayne
Steward
Letters from the mayors of
both Godley and Venus, request-
ing the county’s assistance in
minor street repairs within their
cities, were considered and the
work approved by county com-
missioners. Pet. 4 Commissioner
Bud Miller was authorized to
handle minimum blading work
in Venus. Bridewell was to write
a letter to Larry Richardson,
mayor of Godley, indicating that
the city would need to pay for
gravel, labor, and fuel, but there
would be no charge for use of
county equipment for the work
in that city. The same applied for
the city of Venus.
County Treasurer D’Will Jones
presented the quarterly report
for October, November, and
December of 1986, which was
accepted as presented to co-
mmissioners.
Commissioners also approved
a contract with Business Records
Corporation for data processing
of the Johnson County voter
registration files for an estimated
cost of $11,550 per year. Tax
Assessor/Collector W E. Carroll
said the company (formerly
named Western Data) indicated
an upward revision in the cost
from 25 cents to 30 cents per
voter, which would begin on
March 1.
"This will raise our cost ap-
proximately $900 over last year,"
said Carroll. The company could
also handle random jury selec-
tion for a cost of 3'/2 cents apiece,
it was explained. Bridewell
queried as to whether Carroll
was satisfied with the company,
and Carroll responded, "Until we
can arrange tor in-house com-
puterization, this is the best we
can do.”
It was announced at Monday’s
regular meeting of com-
missioners court that the Alvarado
courthouse annex was open for
business as of that day. As an
outcome of executive session of
the court, approval was given to
hire a secretary for the remain-
der of the budget year for the Pet
4 Justice of the Peace office.
