a brief executive session. The com-
missioner unanimously approved a
motion by Pet. 2 Commissioner
Ron Harmon and seconded by Pet.
1 Commissioner Jack Hewlett to
pay $341.38 in actual damages.
Commissioner were in agree-
ment that the event was unfortu-
nate, but felt that paying for the
loss of equity from the sale of the
house would be setting a precedent.
"It’s unfortunate,” Hewlett said.
"But it will probably happen again
because of the drug problem. I
know it's traumatic for people, but
it’s also traumatic for law enforce-
ment officers knocking down a door
and not knowing if they will face
innocent citizens or sub machine
guns.”
He said he felt it was appro-
priate to pay for the actual damages,
but not the the loss that resulted
from the sale of the house.
McKeehan later said that he had
not made a decision about possible
litigation for the loss of equity. It
would depend, he said, on finding
an attorney who would take the case
and how much it would cost
