day at noon for the holidays and
'those of the teachers and pupils re-
siding elsewhere loft for their respect-

Mr. Ralph S. Rowntree art in-
structor at Southern Methodist Uni
versity Dallas attended the wedding
of Miss Emma Laughlin and visited
relatives hero this week. Mr. Rown
tree has just returned from a trip
around tho world preceded by a two
years' stay in China studying Chinese
art.
Miss Ida Thompson left Sunday
for Haskell in response to a message
announcing tho death of her mother
Mrs. R. W. Thompson who for many
years was a citizen of Bartlett and
is the mother of Mr. R. S. Thompson
and Mesdames Jim Dillnrd and Frank

Charles Modesette of State Univer-
sity Austin is spending the holidays
with his parents Mr. and Mrs. C. A.
Modesette.
Mrs. Albert Clark sends the Tri-
bune to her brother H. F. Roberts
at Oklahoma City. We regret to
learn of Forney's ill health and trust
that he will soon be restored.
Adolph Schwertner was stricken in
the store of tho Schwertner & Beyer
Mercantile Co. at Schwertner Wed-
nesday morning" nnd for a while was
critically iH but reports from his
home yesterday ''stated that he was
im'proved.
"Weary Willie" Waterhouse. of
Walla Walla. Washincton. was hero
this week and made the Tribune office
a visit. Willie is one of the old tvne
printers on the road and always makes
the office a fraternal visit when in
this section of the state.
Quite a number of friends kindly
remembered Mrs. T. B. Benson Wed-
nesday afternoon where for several
months she has been confined to her
bed and scattered sunshine and flow-
era making their dbar friend feel at
least some portion of the holiday spir-
it. Each lady carried some little tak
en which was greatly appreciated Jby
Mrs. Benson but not so much as the
personal 'visit and words of cheer
which they carried. It was an after
noon of happiness to all.
