Third grader debates how to spend reward
Brody Lucas scans surprised
when people praise him for return-
ing the wallet be found near Dub-
lin Elementary Monday morning.
To Brody, there never was an
option other than to return it, in
spite of a suggestion from an
acquaintance that he keep the
money.
The third grader had stopped to
tie his shoe laces when be spotted
the wallet. He opened it and found
pictures, credit cards and “a whole
lot of money.”
He took the wallet straight to
Principal Gayle Crouch’s office
before going to his class in Mrs.
Pounds’ room. The man who lost
the wallet appeared at the princi-
pal’s office within minutes, hoping
the wallet may have been recov-
ered.
As a reward, the man sent a note
of thanks to Brody as well as a
crisp $20 bill.
Brody is considering several op-
tions for the money including a
spirit bell from the Athletic
Booster Club or maybe pizza for
his friends.
He said he knew the owner
would be happy to get his money
and credit cards hack but Mrs.
Crouch pointed out to him that the
pictures might be the most trea-
sured items in the wallet.
Brody's reaction to the wallet
incident is fairly ho-hum. But he
has a more predictable response
when he describes a catfish “as big
as my leg” which he caught during
a recent fishing trip to Lake Proc-
tor. Now that’s something to get
excited about.
He is the son of Nancy Lucas
and the oldest of three sons.

Here it is almost September.
Another month gone by. What a
busy week we’ve had. First, the
Dublin Senior Citizen Band enter-
tained last Monday and we all had
a great time. Then the Stanley
Dancers form Granbury danced for
us Tuesday. It’s always a joy to
have both of these groups. Special
thanks to James Pierce for making
his famous home-made cookies for
both occasions.
Last Saturday the Guardian Angel
group was unable to do the movie
night but they will be back this
Saturday at 7 p.m. with a movie,
popcorn and Dr Pepper.
The Purves Baptist Church will
bring worship Sunday afternoon at
2 p.m.
The residents will enjoy a water-
melon slicing on Labor Day at 2
p.m. Then we have a watermelon
seed spitting contest for all the
residents who wish to show off
their agility. Come support your
loved one. .
The Resident Council will meet
for its monthly meeting Sept. S.
