Teenage pageant organizing
An area girl will be crowned
Miss Teenage Burleson on Saturday,
May 19, and have the chance to
compete in the first annual Miss
Teenage Texas pageant in July.
Miss Burleson Pageant Execu-
tive Director Carol Curlee said this
marks the first year the Miss America
Pageant, Inc., has sponsored a teen-
age competition.
"While we have a Senior Miss
Burleson from our 1990 pageant she
is not eligible to represent Burleson
in the Miss Teenage Texas pageant
since we did noi hold talent and
swimsuit competitions," Curlee ex-
plained. 'That’s why we decided to
hold a new pageant for the teenage
division."
The reigning Miss Burleson
Rebecca Mikolaj is the Miss Teen-
age Burleson pageant's executive di-
rector.
Just as their Miss Burleson
counterparts. Miss Teenage Burle-
son contestants will be judged in
interview, swimsuit, evening gown,
and talent segments. Talent seg-
ments should not exceed 2:50 min-
utes.
The Miss Teenage Burleson
pageant will be held May 19, 7:30
p.m. at Bailey's One Main Place.
Contestants should be 13-17 years of
age (and not over a junior in high
school). The entry fee is $50 per
contestant and is due (with applica-
tion) by May 6.
The local winner will compete
in the Miss Teenage Texas contest in
Fort Worth, on Tuesday, July 10
(during the Miss Texas preliminar-
ies). "
A]5plica'>ons are available in the
Burleson Star, at Burleson High
School; the Burleson Area Chamber
