Highland Happenings

The Annual fourth Sunday in May
Singing will be year May 22 in the
Round Grove Baptist Church. Curley
West of DeLeon will be the Master of
Ceremonies. The class and conven-
tion books will be there as well as the
old stand by’s. The singing will begin
about 11 a.m., break for a basket
lunch, under the taberaackle, at the
noon hour and continue on into the
afternoon. All singer-listeners and
everyone interested in good singing
has a cordial invitation to come and
enjoy the fellowship.
The Annual Corbell Reunion was
held at Perry Hall in Dublin Sunday
May 15th, Those enjoying the
fellowship and a good meal were:
Jessie (Corbell) Rippetoe, J.L. Cor-
bell, the two living children of the late
Joseph Comilus Corbell and Nancy
Rebecca (Davenport) Corbell, Mrs.
May (Ernest) Corbell, Mary Lou Lit-
tle, Zelda Little, Melba Jane Kinman,
Sherman Tates, Patsy Williams and
son, Andy Williams, Gary and Rhon-
da House, Zack and Marcie, Mrs.
Bette House, Mindi, Nanci, and
Richie, Thurston and Norma Nell
House, Ronnie and Nancy Couch,
Dendy, Toby end Angelee, Olene
Mathis, Orval and Altha Fair, all of
Dublin. Lawrence and Johnnie Bays,
John and Cindy Garde and son J.R.
and John Pat Mow of Stephenville. A1
and May Locke and Ava Thiebaud of
Dublin were welcome visitors.
Following the meal Mrs. Zelda Lit-
tle was elected by a unanimous vote,
to be the president for another year.
Also it was voted to meet in Perry
Hall again in the year of 1989 on the
third Sunday in May.
Jody James attended a birthday
party sleep over honoring Brian
Hightower at the Hightower home in
Dublin Friday night and Saturday.
Van and Terri Christian visited
with Johnnie and Irene Wilson after
Church services Sunday night. John-
nie is having trouble with a knee and
is having to stay off it for therapy
each day.
The Highland Baptist Church en-
joyed a visiting preacher Sunday
night for their services. He was
Harlon Usery and his wife from the
Independent Baptist College in
Dallas.
Billy Keith, Janie Barnes, Atha
Tidwell, and Sharon Locke attended
the “Battle of Songs” in the Will
Rogers Auditorium in Fort Worth
Saturday night.
Mrs. Bette House and family joined
the rest of her family for a picnic in
the park in Stephenville, Saturday.
Many others .from more towns
attended.
Congratulations to Billy and Alice
Keith who celebrated their 41st Wed-
ding Anniversary Sunday May 15, by
having Dinner Out.
Also congratulations to Royce Lee
Thiebaud, son of the late Royce and
Faye Thiebaud of Comanche, and his
wifetou, who became the parents of
twin girls, May 11 in the Clifton
Hospital. The girls were named
Rachel Leeann, and Raven Faye.
They were welcome home by a three
year old sister, Julie Elizabeth.
Mother and babies are doing fine and
went home from the hospital
Saturday.
The Orval Fairs received work Sun-
day morning that Orval aunt, Mrs.
Eula Mae (Sharp) Fair passed away
in Bellflower, CA. on Saturday. Her
husband Jim Fair passed away
several months ago. They were both
bom and raised in this vicinity and
have many relatives around here.
We also received word that our
daugher-in-law, Mrs. Connie Mack
(Gloria) Fair is in the hospial in Col-
umbus in serious condition.
People once believed they could
keep their cattle healthy by hanging
boughs of the mountain ash tree in
front of the stables.
Mixer for elderly and young—The Golden Age Manor has been celebrating National Nursing Home Week. Pic-
tured here are some residents getting back in touch with youth by playiflg with some babies and talking to the Dublin
Young Homemakers. Bobbie Nichols set up this meeting as the last activity of the week. Those present were: Naomi
Stockton, Thelma Jones, Naomi Freeman, Kathleen Jones, Vera Tackett, Delma Fine, Juanita Gilbreath, Lois Bear
and Stella Spearman. They were sitting with babies and toddlers; Sara and Jonna Nichols, Clint and Dane Johnson,
Maranda Durham, Gabe and Elise Leatherwood, Casey Locke, Jarred Greenway and Brady Riley.
