7 :00,
NEW YORK. — When witnesses
at recent trials of Nazi war crim-
inals told of the frightful tortures in-
flicted by women guards on women
prisoners at the Belsen prison camp,
court room listeners were shocked
into audible expressions of horror,
says the Chicago Herald-American.
But the grim revelations were
not surprising to psychiatrists, who
are familiar with many manifesta-
tions of the same phenomenon in
everyday life.
Crime annals, they point out, are
replete with instances of women
who delight in inflicting pain on oth-
ers of their own sex.
Cleopatra, Boadicea, Messalina,
Catherine the Great, and Lucretia
Borgia are among women rulers of
the past who attained lasting infamy
through such cruelties. And, though
the story of their dark crimes reads
shockingly to modern eyes, psychi-
atrists say they differed only in de-
gree from the tortures women con-
stantly inflict on feminine objects of
their dislike or envy.
Reason Revealed.
Commenting on this peculiar at-
tribute of what is commonly known
as the gentler sex, Dr. Leland E.
Hinsie, assistant director of. the New
York State Psychiatric institute,
said:
“To psychiatrists, the cruelty of
women to women has long been an

Tom-Tom Advertising
By Airplanes.
A unique innovation in advertising
the Tom Tom, which will he held
in Yoakum on June 13-14-15, will be
the streamlining of the motorcade
used in the past years. This year’s
event will he advertised from the air
by an Aerocnde of airplanes which
will cover the towns formerly contact-
ed by the automobile caravan.
A total of thirty towns; will he cov-
ered by air In a few hours where the
motorcale took two days to make the
complete trip. Advance ears will go
ahead with posters and to 'contact the
newspapers in the various towns ad-
vising the citizens of the fact that
the aerocade will pass over their city
or town on a certain date and drop
leaflets advertising the Tom Tom.
Included among the leaflets will he
free airplane, rides during, the show
and free admission to the rodeo
which will he a part of the Tom Tom.
A siren mounted on one of the
planes will herald the approach of
the nerocade and easfi plane will
circle the town and drop
landings will be made except
scheduled stops along the route.
Be Quick To Treat
Bronchitis
Chronic bronchitis may develop If
your cough, chest cold, or acute bron-
chitis is not treated and you cannot af-
ford to take a chance with any medicine
less potent than Creomulsion which
goes right to the seat of the trouble to
help loosen and expel germ laden
phlegm and aid nature to soothe and
heal raw, tender, inflamed bronchial
mucous membranes.
Creomulsion blends beechwood creo-
sote by special process with other time
tested medicines for coughs. It contains
no narcotics.
No matter how many medicines you

flicted by women guards in concen- standing you must like the way it quick -

women placed in the same position _______-.---
of unbridled power over other wom-
en, would have reacted similarly.
“This apparently innate relentless
attitude of women against women
probably springs from a natural bio-
logical instinct of the female sex.
Woman is a great deal more jealous
of her welfare and security than
man. She is quick to guard them, by
the most savage means if neces-
sary.
“This is why lawyers seek to
bar women jurors when their clients
are women. They fear an unreason-
able, spiteful verdict.
“Everyone is aware of how fre-
quently women direct hurtful re-
marks toward other women — how
they instantly and ruthlessly ap-" *
praise members cf their own sex.
