to make the third draft. Trustees,
could pick and choose from among
them or leave them all out and go
basically with the budget as it now
stands. Many of the these items in-
volve additional personnel, although
about $150,000 relates to computer
equipment.
Each penny of the tax rate repre-
sents an increase of about $72,000 in
local revenue.
Other items on tonight's agenda
include:
—Authorization of sell and/or
dispose of surplus equipment, sup-
plies, and junk.
—Acceptance of the 1990 tax
roll.
—Consider a report from the
Student Discipline Ad hoc Commit-
tee and act upon modifications to the
plan.
Consider approval of the
weighted grade point plan for deter-
ming senior class rank.
—Consider approval of a re-
vised calendar of meeting dates for
adoption of the budget and tax rate.
—Discuss a plan for trying to
reduce the reliance on property taxe(s
for the funding of public education in
Texas.
76 accidents = five deaths
and 50 injuries in June
Larry and The F&M State Bank Girls
The Texas Highway Patrol in-
vestigated 76 rural traffic accidents
in Johnson County during June of
1990, according to Sgt. Schneider,
supervisor for the local highway
patrol area.
These accidents resulted in five
deaths and 50 injuries. The total
number of rural traffic accidents for
Johnson County for this year is 301,

NASHVILLE — Corrections
Corporation of America announ-
ced on. July 2 that'Kevin Myers
has been named assistant warden
of the Venus Pre-Release Center.
The position is effective im-
mediately.
"Kevin brings a lot of ex-
perience with him to this posi-
tion," said David Myers. vice
president, operations, who is not
related to Kevin Myers. “He will
be a real asset to our staff in
Venus.”
Myers comes to CCA from the
Joseph Harp Correctional Center
in Lexington, Okla., where he Was
deputy warden, responsible for
the daily operation of an 880-bed
medium-security facility.
He began his correctional car-
eer dn 1976 as a correctional
treatment officer. He worked as a
correctional case manager, assis-
tant superintendent, executive
assistant to the director of the
Oklahoma Department of Cor-
rections, and administrator of
house arrest before becoming
deputy warden in 1986.
Myers earned his bachelor's
degree in political science from
Phillips University in Enid, Okla.,
and has completed coursework
toward a master’s in Public Ad-
ministration at Oklahoma Univer-
sity in Norman, Okla. He is a
member of the American Correc-
tional Association, the Oklahoma
Correctional Literacy Council
and the Correctional Industries
Association. He served as chair-
man of Oklahoma’s Department
of Corrections Esprit de Corps
Committee.

Highway Patrol district 6A have had
a total of 3,017 rural traffic accidents
this year, which have resulted in 103
deaths and 2,234 injuries. This com-
pares to 3,246 accidents, % deaths,
and 2,209 injuries reported during
this same period last year.
When six-time World Champion All-Around Cowboy Larry Mahan
dropped by Farmers and Merchants State Bank last week he was
treated with celebrity status. Mahan was a good sport about signing
autographs for his many fans, and for posing for a picture or two. He
was staying with Burleson residents Bobby and Margie Norris during
a Fort Worth cutting horse event. Mahan has also appeared in several
movies, including a documentary about his life as a cowboy. His
outgoing personality makes him a popular celebrity.
