The Citv Council mVotinp in
special session. Tuesday night or
dered an election to be held
Tuesday December 19th on the
question of whether or not the
City Council shall be authorized
to issue revenue bonds in the
sum of ninety thousand dollars
payable in fifteen years bearing
six per cent interest for the
purpose of constructing and in-
stalling an electric light and
power plant and distribution
system.
The revenue bonds are to he
secured by first mortgage on the
plant and distribution system
and the net revenues thereof
and each of the bonds and the
mortgage securing same shall
have inserted therein the follow-
ing 'Theholder hereof shall
never have the right to demand
payment of this obligation out of
any funds raised or to be raised
by taxation."

The Council was advised by
attorneys that the law does not

opinion of the Council that an
election was advisable in order
to determine the desire of the
people.

next Tuesday R. W. Miller lo-
cal chairman stated Thursday
morning. The roll call will be
directed by R. B. Strickland
who will be assisted bv the Bov

' Red Cross memberships are
$1.00 and one-half of the mon-
ey collected will remain in the
local fund for use in relieving
local distress Mr. Miller stated.
Members of the Red Cross
- committee in Bartlett are urg-
ing citizens to bring their old
quilts blankets and clothing to
the Red Cross headquarters at
the Lawrence Bros. Store.

past ten years has accepted a

John's Lutheran Church of
Bartlett.
Rev. Streng came to San An
tonio on August 8 1923 nine

the congregation had become
self-supporting and had liqui-
dated the entire debts on the

Two hundred and twenty-six
new members have been added
during Rev. Strong's pastorate
at San Antoino.
Rev. Strenir is considered one
of the outstanding ministers of
the Lutheran denomination in
Texas. He is exnected to arrive
in Bartlett some time in the near
future.

last Friday afternoon at Holland.
In the early minutes of the
game Wilson of Holland caught
a long pass to" score the first
counter. Janoskv of Holland
ran 25 yards to score the second
touchdown in the second quar-
ter. The Bull-Dogs were out played
from the beginning of the game.
Miss Pearl Prinzintr under
went a tonsil operation at Tem
ple Thursday. v She is reported
to be doing nicely.

rolls in Bartlett went to work
Thursday mornincr as a result
of the nationwide "back to work"
program. These men have qual-
ified themselves for the Emer
gency construction work which
is being paid for by the Civil
worKs administration.
The men reported for work at
the office of the City Secretary
Thursday morning and wer or-
ganized into crews. Streets and
alleys are being cleaned by the
men.
Each "man can work a maxi-
mum of 30 hours a week at a
minimum wage of 40 an hour.

Harper of Houston spent the
week-end in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. W. H. Barefield.
Miss Ruth Turner returned
home with Mr. and Mrs. H. E.
Kelley of Corpus Christy In

lett from Hamilton where he
was pastor for three years. He

in Temnle and has been an ac
tive member of the Methodist
