of Health has issued a warning" to
parents in regard to this, and offers
file following suggestions to previa
its occurrence among babics.,-2pf
chief cause of diarrhea include Impure
milk, water*and contaminated foods
overheating, fever from any cause, too
much sugar or cream in the diet, over-
feeding and underfeeding.
Mother’s milk is the safest food.
However, if other milk must he used,
the supply should lie clean anti' pure.
The water should be clean, pure and
boiled. Any other article of food
should lie fresh aud,clean and no un-
suitable articles of food such as eakg
and candy should be given.
If a feeding formula is used, it
should , be one prescribed by a physi-
cian and it must bo prepared with" ex
treme attention to cleanliness and
kept cold until used. The,baby should
lie fed at regular intervals and. should
not lie forced'to eat when M? is not
hungry. , The1'baby"should lie kejvt cool
and Comfortable in hot weather,
should not he over-clothed and should

Inez on Wednesday, May 29th, was a
very happy otie, anil in which the
many friends of this most estimable
coupe-—greatly rejoiced because they

promise of a happy married life. The
wedding took plaqg at the residence
of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hutcheson at
Inez. -Mr. J- O. B. Young, brother of
the groom, and Miss Rose Strauss of
Ganudo being attendants. Rev. Father
Hendricks of Victoria officiated. Only
members of tlie families and immed-
iate friends witnessed the ceremoYiy.
No young man in Jackson County is
held in higher esteem by a large cir-
cle of acquaintances than is John
Young. He served our county efficient
ly in the past as commissioner for the
Edna precinct, retiring from office
last year to devote his time more en-
tirely to his private business. His
many friends heartily congratulate

Shortage of Laying
Hens Expected.
A heavy shortage of laying hens,
with a corresponding increase in egg
and poultry prices, is in prospect, for
the fall of 1937 and* the early jiart of
1938, according to George l*. Me

of-the Texas .A. & M. Extension Sen

McCarthy said that high feed cost -
and low prices for poultry product
had resulted in the heaviest culling
program in reedilt years. The un-
favorable price picture, lias also re

zens are planning for a big 4th of
July “celebration this year. Due to
the fact that the 4tli full on Sunday,
tlie celebration will tie held- on Mon-
day, J.illy 5th. We are informed that
the celebration this year will likely
exceed anything of the kind held in
the City by the Sea fot many years,
anil that's saying a whole lot for Pa-
lacios has conducted some very suc-
cessful celebrations. Their tentative
program includes a big parade, rodeo,
barbecue, baseball game, sharp shoot-
ing exhibition, band concert, bathing
girl's revue, fire works and a . big
