Durbin and Agerton say vows in June 3
semi-formal military wedding in garden
Barbara J. Durbin and Dr. Wil-
liam David Agerton, Jr., lieutenant,
Navy, exchanged wedding vows in a
semiformal military wedding June 3,
at 4 p.m. at the Fort Worth Botanic
Gardens in the Lower Rose Garden.
The Rev. Bill Kilgore, associate
pastor of McKinney Memorial Bible
Church, performed the wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Ben
and Gladys Durbin of Louisville,
Ky.. The groom is the son of William
D. and Mercedees Agerton of Burle-
son.
Given in marriage by her
brother, Larry Durbin of Arlington,
the bride wore a taffeta gown which
featured an off the shoulder fitted
lace bodice, heavily beaded and se-
quined. TheV-waisted full skirt ter-
minated in a cathedral train enhanced
by a large taffeta bow with taffeta
roses in the center. The bride wore a
beaded comb in her hair. Her bouquet
was a combination of alstromeria,
rubrum lilies and stephanotis.
The bride's attendants were Jana
Bennett of Fort Worth, and Shelly
Miller of Austin. The matron of
honor was her sister, Debbie
BacareUa of Boca Raton, Fla. The
attendants and the matron of honor
wore tea length dresses of a soft print
taffeta of pink, blue, and white. The
dresses were V-backed to the waist
where they were enhanced by a large
blue bow. They each carried a small
bouquet of rubrum lilies and stepha-
nods.
The groomsmen were Dr. Ste-
ven Ellerbe, Dr. Jim Curlee, and Mr.
Dan Mann, all of Fort Worth.
Following the ceremony a re-
ception was held at the Botanic Gar-
den Conservatory Rose Room. Mrs.
Barbara Murphy arranged the details
of decorating and serving. The tables
were draped with pink cloths with
lace and pink ribbon accents. The
floral arrangements were created by
Mrs. Susan Klocinski and consisted
of pink callalillies and stephanotis.
The wedding cake was the center of
attention, created by "A Taste Of
Europe" by Gisela Techt. The cake
was a three tier orange grand mamier
cakewith hand formed sugar Pow-
ers, air brushed with color, giving
the appearance of porcelain. The
groom's cake, also by Gisela, was a
velvet chocolate cake with white
chocolate and chocolate dipped
strawberries on top.
Guests were registered by Ms.
Diane Bransom, sister of the groom.
Out of town guests were: Ben
Durbin, Mrs. Joan Elder, Mrs. Julia
Bennett, all of Louisville, Ky., Mi-
chael, Debbie, Michael Jr. and
Marissa Bacarella, of Boca Raton,
Fla., Richard and Joyce Harlow,
Vickie Huber, of Houston, Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Pearson, of Tiptonville,
Tenn., and Rick Torrez of Dallas.
The bride is a CPA and is plan-
ning to complete her masters degree
at the University of West Florida.
The groom is a graduate of Burleson
High School and Texas A & M Uni-
versity. . He received his medical
doctorate on June 2,1990. He is also
a lieutenant in the U. S. Navy and will
be practicing in Pensacola, Fla. in the
Held of airospace medicine and as-
tronautics.
Mr. and Mrs. William D. Ager-
ton hosted rehearsal dinner, which
was held at Celebration resturant in
Fort Worth Friday, June 1, attended
by the bridal party and family mem-
bers.

Worth was the scene of a bridal
shower and brunch April 28, given
by Mrs. Gloria Worsham, Mrs. Me-
linda Klabzuba, and Ms. Diane Bran-

bridal shower May 19, for friends of
the bride and groom

Calvin is named BPW's "Woman of the Year"
Vera Calvin, maj^ of Burle-
son, has been selected by the Burle-
son Business and Professional
Women's Organization as BPW
Woman of the Year.
Calvin has been a member of
BPW for 27 years. This is the second
time she has been recognized with
this honor. She was selected in 1983-
"Dis-
lection each year based on official
BPW activities, career and educa-
tional achievements, continuity in-
volvement, and contributions to
women helping women. Calvin has
many accomplishments credited to
her in each category. She has donated
her time to city government for sev-
eral years. An outsanding achieve-
ment is being elected as Burleson's
first female mayor this year. As
mayor pro-tem, she assumed the role
of mayor in September of 1988 when
Jerry Boone resigned to take another
position. She also was elected to the
Burleson city council, serving from
1982-84. Calvin was the second
woman in Burleson's history to be
elected to city council at that time.
Calvin has been very involved in
the success of the Burleson BPW.
She has held all elected offices ex-
cept treasurer, chairman for all stand-
ing committees, and many special
appointments. She has served as
delegate and alternate delegate to
many state and national BPW con-
ventions. She has been employed at
the Fort Worth State School for 14
years. Calvin was named health serv-
ices coordinator for adolescent resi-
dential service in 1986. She earned
her bachelor of science degree in
health care administration from East
Texas State University in 1984. She
is married to Stacy Calvin and has
been a resident of Burleson for many
years.
Burleson BPW has many out-
standing members in the organiza-
tion. Calvin was chosen because she
represents what BPW is all about.
She is a leader in her community and
BPW and is respected by those who
are involved with her on various
projects. She is a role model for oth-
ers with her dedication and untiring
efforts to make the community a
better place to live and work for to-
day and future (reiterations.
The BPW organization invites
you to its 1990-91 installation and
dinner meeting Tuesday, June 12, at
7 p.m. at the First United Methodist
VERA CALVIN
Church. Jean Franklin, recording
secretary for Texas Federation of
BPW, will be the installing officer.
Newly elected offices are:
Kathy NeSmith, president; Scarlett
Bush, first vice president; Carta
Hefner, second vice president; Janis
Woodruff, secretary; and Barbara
Knight, treasurer.
A reception prior to the meeting
will be from 6:30 p.m. -7 p.m., hon-
oring the outgoing and incoming of-
ficers. Hostesses for the evening are
Sharon Wright, Dorothy Pierce; and
Doris Butler. Reservations may be
made by calling Sharon Wright at
884-8332. The cost is $12. Everyone
is encouraged to attend and learn
more about BPW.
