Over $2 million is invested by au-
thorized new car dealers in more
than 800 automobiles on loan to
schools throughout the state, ac-
cording to Tom J. Crooks, Mana-
ger of the dealer association. Many
of these ears are equipped with
dual controls, permitting the in-
structor to maintain maximum
safety control during the training
procedure
The shortage of qualified "behind
the wheel" instructors prevents
many other schools and new car
dealers® from participating in this
program, Mr Crooks said.
Many dealers loan pickups to
FFA and 4-H Clubs so that agri-
culturally rqinded youths may be-
come familiar with the operation
of farm type vehicles.
