report by Nov. 15 to distiict
chairmen in accordance with con-
test rules available at General
Federation headquarters in Wash-
ington. District chairmen turn
in the number of persons con-
tacted by participating clubs and
voting to the state chairman by
Nov. 20. Prizes up to $500, de-
pending on the size of the club,
are offered by GFWC for the
largest roundup of voters result-
ing from club efforts.

Mrs. Herbert Smith was elect
ed president of the Edna Home
Demonstration Club which met
Wednesday, Oct. 1, in the City
Auditorium, with Mrs. G. E. Men-
efee as hostess.
The meeting was opened by the
president;. Mrs. Smith repeated
the club prayer. Twelve members
answered the roll call. *
Other officers elected Included
Mrs. Tom Babb, vice-president;
Mrs. W. A. McClung, secretary
and treasurer, and Mrs. R. A.
Shoemate, council delegate.

was surprised with a pink and
blue shower Thursday evening,
Del. 2. at 8:20 p. m. at the Plain-
view Community Center in Hillje.
A carnation corsage accented
with pink and blue ribbons was
presented the honoree by Mrs.
Bill Olsovsky.
Mums, roses, crepe myrtle,
coral vine, ami other seasonal
blossoms were placed at vantage
p lints in the dining room.
The linen laid table placed be-
fore the honoree held a central
arrangement of white daisies and
adorned with a large stork figur-
ine and a bassinet decorated in
pink and blue, in which the gifts
were placed.
Hostesses were Mrs. Anton Ifcu-
benka, Mrs. Alfonse Sbrush, and
Mrs. Bill Olsovsky.
After the shower feature, re-
frshments of chicken salad sand-
wiches, pickels, potato chips, ko-
laches, cake, and cold drinks
were served buffet style.
Out-of-town guests included
Mrs. Edward Popp, Mrs. Louis
Mol lor, Mrs. Henry Mucka, and
Mrs. Bill Ponick of Louise; Mrs.
\V. G. Kaincr of East Bernard;

ternoon, Sept. 21, in an impres
sive double-ring ceremony in the
home of Mrs. Mary Miller, at
3607 Santa Anna Ave., Hunting-
ton Park, with Rev. F. L. Ben-
netts officiating.
The bride was given in mar-
riage by her father. Miss Dorothy
Cutler was maid of honor, while
Harvey Allen, brother of the
groom, was best man.

Three girls from Jackson Coun-
ty are attending the 50th session
of the Texas State College for
Women.
They are Misses Aileen Eliza-
beth Shook, Nelda Ruth Knopp,
I and Virginia Joyce Nixon.

is an elementary education major
with a minor in history and,gov-
ernment.
Miss Knopp, daughter of Mr.

do, is majoring in health, physi-

Miss Gail Grogan was honored
recently on her ninth birthday

Woman’s Society of Christian.
Service met on Oct. 8 in the home
of Mrs. C. M. Dugger, with Mrs.
C. M. Dugger Jr. and Mrs. Gor-
don Nelson as co-hostesses.
The annual bazaar to be held
in December was discussed. The
bazaar committee, L»ucille Dahl-
strom, Lane Gayle, and - Babe
Davis, showed examples of handi-
work and new ideas for handi-
work that could be made for the
bazaar.
Mrs. Dugger then introduced
the guest speaker, Mrs. LeRoyce
Jones, who gave an interesting
review on “The Silver Chalice.”
“The purpose of a book review,”
said Mrs. Jones, “is to so inspire
everyone to make them want to
read the book for themselves.”
After hearing her give this ex-
cellent review, certainly every-
one present has the desire to read
“The Silver Chalice.”
Refreshments were served to
17 members and one guest.

tion Club met Oct. 2 at the home
of Mrs. Ray Raines. Thirteen
members and two guests answer-
ed roll call, “Give one reason for
developing an outdoor living
room.”

Mrs. Ben Good, vice-president;
Mrs. Ray Yearwood, secretary-
treasurer, and Mrs. Henry Ditt-
rich was appointed reporter.
Orders for Christmas cards
were taken.
A demonstration on outdoor
living room was given by Mrs.
Dittrich.

ments.
