Church is located on Hwy 17

“Neither is there salvation in any
other: for there is none other name
under heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved.” Acts
4:12.
Wasn’t the rain wonderful! The
lake is fuller and for that we are
thankful. Our pear tree and others’
pear trees are beginning to bloom
again.
We had a wonderful time in the
Lord at church. There’s nothing
like good, old-fashioned fellow-
ship! Phillip and Donna Miller
blessed us with a beautiful special
Bro. Turner’s sermon was evange-
listic. We then had the Lord’s
Supper, a time to remember what
Jesus did for me.
Forrest Lane will have a birthday
on October 9th. Pray for Dorothy
Lane, as she will undergo foot
surgery this week.
We had a wonderful prayer meet-
ing at Huston and Nancy Simmons’
home on Wednesday night. We
missed Milton and Ida Jopling, as
they were in Dallas for him to see
three of his doctors. He got a good
report from all of them. We missed
Ida at church because she was not
feeling well.
Meagan Christian came prepared
for Amanda and Amber Mashbum
to sit beside her at church. I always
enjoy the Mashburn children in
Sunday School.
Kevin and Pam Gassett ate lunch
with the Turners on Friday.
Alice Knight called the other day
and said that she had been in Lone
Oak to be with the two elderly
ladies when Bro. Turner had a birth-
day.
Keep on praying for rain. Our
lake is not yet full.
"That if thou shalt confess with
thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine heart that God hath
raised Him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved For with the heart
man believeth unto righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation.” Romans
10:9-10.

Mrs. Billie Prather and daughter
came by the office recently to sub-
scribe to the Leader for their son
and grandson. Mark D Morris, of
Camden, Ark.
******
Mary Ann Ivy came in and
renewed the subscription to the
Leader for Christie Steinborn.
Woosley Baptist enjoyed a beau-
tiful day of worship this past Sun-
day morning Many expressed grat-
itude to God for the refreshing rains
which were received in the past
days. Rev. David Thompson
brought a message about Paul’s
prayer for new believers out of
Ephesians 3:14-21. Special music
in the morning service was brought
by Nathan Otto and Frank Shelton.
Attendance was low this Sunday
due to many regular attendees being
ill or out of town. Special prayer
was said during the service for
Carolyn McBride, who is hospital-
ized in Greenville, and others who
were mentioned with illnesses or
other needs.
The church is making exciting
plans for “Great Day in the
Morning” October 25. This is the
annual “High Attendance” day in
Sunday morning Bible study. The
various classes have been chal-
lenged to set goals for their individ-
ual attendance for that Sunday
Woosley Baptist will observe
Pastor Appreciation Day on Sun-
day, October 11, with a covered-
dish luncheon immediately follow-
ing the morning worship service.
The luncheon will be held in the
church fellowship hall. Plan to
bring a covered dish of some kind
and join in the time of food and fel-
lowship with Bro. Thompson and
his family.
The church will hold Sunday
evening services on October 11 on
the front lawn of Bro. Irwin and
Lorene Fenter’s home at 6 p.m
(weather permitting). Bro. Fenter
has been bed-ridden for approxi-
mately ten months and unable to
attend worship services at the
church. Chairs will be set up on the
lawn. A special song service is
being planned for the evening as
well as an inspiring message
Everyone is invited to come and
join in as the church shares a time
of worship with this home-bound
member (Bro. Fenter’s home is
located just off Hwy. 47 on CR
1450, which is approximately 6/10
mile north of the church building.)

Ollie Key was a recent visitor to
the office to renew her subscription
to the Leader.

Lisa Clark came in and renewed
her subscription to the Rains
County Leader.
In Genesis we read about the beginning of creation an^ man-
kind. We can also read about the origin or the beginning of the
church of Christ in God’s word. Perhaps some have not given
much thought about such things.
Jesus speaking to His disciples said. ‘3ome standing here
will not die till they see the kingdom of God come with power"'
(Mark 9:1). Many say the kingdom hasn’t come yet. If that’s so,
somewhere there are some very old apostles. This one verse
should be enough to convince anyone who respects the word of
God to believe that duting the lives of some of the apostles the
kingdom of God was established. But if others are needed, we
could go to Colossians 1:13 or Revelation 1:9. So if we can
find scripture which refers to this power and the apostles, we can
know when the kingdom (or the church) had its beginning. In
Luke 24:49, Jesus speaking to His disciples told them to go and
wait in Jerusalem until they be endued with power on high. In
Acts 1:4-5, these scriptures tell of Jesus’s commandments to
wait in Jerusalem for the promise of the Father. In Acts 2:1, the
word “the/’ refers back to Acts 1:26 the apostles. In Acts 2:2-4
the apostles heard a sound as of a mighty rushing wind and they
(the apostles) were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak
in other people's languages. And every man heard them speak
in their own language (Acts 2:6). Peter stands and starts
preaching to the multitude and says, ‘This is that which was spo-
ken by Joel. And it shall come to pass in the last days I will pour
out my spirit on all flesh." This scripture confirms from this point
on would be the last days. In Isaiah 2:2 it says “In the last days
the Lord’s house shall be established and all nations shall flow
into it." In 1 Timothy 3:15 we learn the house of God, which is
the church of the living God, is the pillar and ground of truth.
As Peter is preaching in Acts chapter 2, the people were
pricked in their hearts and they asked Peter, “What shall we do?”
(Acts 2:37). He tells them to repent and be baptized for the re-
mission of sins (Acts 2:38). Then they that gladly received the
words were baptized (Acts 2:41). And the Lord added to the
church daily such as should be saved (Acts 2:47). There was no
reason to wait till a later date to be baptized, 3000 people were
baptized that day. Also, there was no voting on who would or
wouldn’t be a part of the church. This is the first time we read
about anyone being added to the church, and it was by their obe-
dience to the word of God. Thus the kingdom or the church was
established in 33 A.D. at Jerusalem (Isaiah 2:2-4).
These are Bible facts about the church of Christ. Any church
that was established after 33 A.D. was not built by Jesus Christ
(Romans 16:16). Jesus had these words to say about other in-
stitutions that started another time and place: “Every plant which
my Heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted up" (Matt.
15:13). We urge you to examine yourselves, whether ye be in the
faith: prove your own selves (2 Cor. 13:5). These are examples
of churches made by man after 33 A.D.:
