Dallas-Fabulous dancing
will be spotlighted Aug.
2-14 at the Music Hall in
fair Park as the Dallas
Summer Musicals presents
"Can-Can."
Broadway legend Chita
Rivera will star in the
show, and she will be
joined by the
high-kicking Radio City
Music Hall Rockettes.
Miss Rivera will
portray La Mome Pistache,
owner of a turn-of-the
century french cabaret
"La Bal du Paradis," and
the Rockettes will be
seen as the cabaret's
dancers, who scandalized
the city with their
naughty but enticing
can-can.
"Can-Can" features some
of Cole Porter's most
famous tunes, including
"C'est Magnifigue," "I
Love Paris" and "I've Got
You Under My Skin."
Porter also wrote the •
scores of such shows as
"Kiss Me Kate" and
"Anything Goes," while
librettist Abe Burrows
was also responsible for
hits, including "Guys and
Dolls," "Silk Stockings"
and "How to Succeed in
Business Without Really
Trying."
This year's national
tour of "Can-Can" is Miss
Rivera's second
association with the
show. She made her
professional debut as a
dancer in the Broadway
production of "Call Me
Madam," became a
principal dancer in "Guys
and Dolls" and then spent
two years as a dancer in
the chorus of the
original New York
production of "Can-Can."
She went on to star on
Broadway in "West Side
Story," "Bye Bye Birdie,"
"Chicago," "Merlin,"
"Bring Back Birdie,"
"Jerry's Girls" and "The
Rink," for which she won
a Tony Award as best
actress in a musical and
a Drama Desk Award.
The Rockettes, Radio
City Music Hall's -
precision dance team,
have charmed New York
audiences for 62 years.
They have also made
special appearances at
Walt Disney World, toured
with singer Peter Allen
and been featured on
television specials.
"Can-Can" also stars
Ron Holgate and is
directed by Dallett
Norris. It features
choreography by Alan
Johnson, scenic design by
James Fouchard, costumes
by Dean Brown, lighting
by Brian MacDevitt and
sound by Craig Cassidy.

Mrs. Minnie Glass is
reported to be very ill
in a Quitman hospital.
A man who needed a set of
false teeth was looking for a
bargain, he went from one den-
tist to another comparing
prices, until he found one who
would make them for $60.
Then he asked the dentist to
give him a reference among his
patients. "Why, yes,'' said Dr.
Yankem. ' ‘Look up Joe Zilch
on West Street.
Our man looked up Joe Zilch
and said, "I understand the
doctor made a set of teeth for
you si.x months ago for $60. Do
you feel that they were satis-
factory ? ’ ’
"Well, I'll tell you," said
Zilch. "My hobby is skin div-
ing. Last week. I was 40 feet
down in the water off one of the
Florida Keys when I say a
shark coming at me. I tried to
swin away, but there was a
tangle of barbed wire on the
ocean floor, and an octopus
had made a nest in it. As / went
by, with the shark snapping at
my back, the octopus reached
out and started dragging me
through that barbed wire. And
that, mister, was the first time
in six months my mind hadn 7
been on those $60 teeth. ”
