This past week has
certainly been a hot one.
Jimmy, Tracy and I just
returned from a week in
Illinois last Monday
night, so I didn't have
any news in the paper
last week. We spent a
week visiting relatives
in and around Alton and
Godfrey Illinois. Their
weather had been
extremely hot, but a cool
front came in while we
were there, and we
enjoyed several days of
very nice weather. They
had finally gotten some
very badly needed rain in
that area also, though
not as much as needed. We
drove through a very
heavy rain storm in
Missouri, while on the
way to Illinois. It was
raining so hard at times
that you could hardly see
the road. I was driving
at the timg and it was
the middle of the night,
and luck lily, there
wasn't much other
traffic. Lightening would
flash and nearly blind
you for a few seconds.
Jimmy had me to pull over
under a bridge and he
took over driving. I was
sure glad of that.
We made it into
Godfrey, Illinois, a
little before 6 o'clock
that morning. We had to
call our folks there to
come and get us, as the
road to their house was
under construction and we
didn't know the -alternate
route.
We had a very enjoyable
week there, and on the
Sunday before we left, we
had a big family get
to-gether as a going away
party for our cousin's
son, who is going into
the Navy real soon.
L. T. and Mickey Gaby
recently went to
Montgomery, Alabama, to
visit their son Steve and
family. ■ They brought
their grandson Matthew
back to
spend
some
time
with them
i.
Mickey
had
a
nice
surprise
when
she
was
honored
with a
birthday
dinner .
given
by
her
daughter-in-law, Denena
Gaby. Mickey said she
really enjoyed it and
really appreciated the
by G.L.F.
effort put forth on her
behalf.
J. R. Stewart took his
boat out to go fishing
last week but said he
didn't have much luck,
Tony and Janie Clawson
and daughters, Debbie and
Becky, went to Longview
Saturday to visit with
Tony's parents.
Michael Fritz was down
for a visit Saturday, he
had just worked two
back-to-back double
shifts at the hospital
and was pretty worn out.
David and Tammi came over
for lunch so Michael
could see his nephew,
Ryan Seth. We had a nice
visit before Michael had
to go to bed and sleep
awhile after his night
shift job. After he slep
awhile, we visited with
his grandparents, Raymond
and Verba Spence, and
then Michael went to Doug
and Cindy Gaby's with
Donny Morgan to play some
42. Later they went to
Mineola to get some
pizza.
David Fritz took Tammi
to the Dairy Queen
Saturday night for a
treat. Jimmy and I got to
keep the baby while they
were gone. He sure is a
sweety, and we really
enjoy having him around.
This Sabbath was time
for the monthly meal and
fellowship at the church.
All those who wish to,
bring their meal and
share with, others, and it
makes for a wide variety
to choose from.
Roy Spence has poured
them a new wide concrete
drive and carport next to
their patio. Also built a
nice tiered flower bed on
the slope leading to the
drive. The flower beds
are planted with petunias
and looks so nice.
Raymond Spence has been
out cutting wood again,-
getting his supply of
winter wood for sale, all
stocked up. He has also
been busy mowing lawns.
I noticed the peas are
coming up in the garden
that Raymond planted
after that rain we had.
Roy and Delois Spence,
Steve, Dawn and Amber
Spence went over and
visited with Raymond and

have been planning the

this year, for the first
time. It will be taught
by Denena Gaby, who took
computers in college. The

this course are looking
forward to it.
