Hoover Rest* on Eve
Of Eastern Offensive
Washington, Sept. 16.—
j Resting in the sabbath quiet
of his home, Herbert Hoover
fortified himself today for the
arduous seven weeks of fights
ing between him and the end
of his campaign for the presi-
dency.
With the exception of a few
personal friends, he had no
callers, and he stirred from
the house only to worship at a
Quaker meeting house on
Thirteenth street with his wife
and his son, Allan. A dozen
or so small boys waited- out-
side the church to catch a
glimpse of the presidential
candidate as he left, but with
that exception he passed
through the streets virtually
unnoticed.

Old Rose and Edna, with a
little help from two grade
cows, are feeding themselves,
the family, and the car on the
R. L. Russell farm in 'Cottle
county. It happened this way:
Mr. Russell bought two regis-
tered Jersey cows, old Rose
and Edna, last fall at the ad-
vice of the county agent. A
few days later on his own ini
tiative he bought four grade
cows paying only $25 more for
these than he did for the two
registered animals. “A cow is
a cow,” Mr. Russell argued, but
he soon found that the two
registered cows gave as much
milk and butter as the four
grades. Two of the grades
were later sold, and now with
poor crop prospects, feed ex-
hausted and money scarce Mr.
Russell says, "I don’t know
what we would do if it were
not for old Rose and Edna.”

The New Fall Coats and
Dresses For Ladies
Make Their Bow!
We have just received a new and excellent line of coats and
dresses—so complete is this line that you will have no difficulty in
making your selection.
The magic of style—who can
deny its appeal?
The new Fall fur coat silhouette
no longer favors the absolutely
straight line effect only but also
concedes to a slightly moulded
hipline—sleeves and collars most
interestingly displayed and de-
cidedly different.
The new mode, superbly fash-
ioned, luxuriously made, is now
offered ' in all its interesting style
variations.
Meticulous, fascinating detail
makes every one of these coats and
dresses a masterpiece of work-
manship. Remarkable values.
