WHAT GENTLEMEN
PREFER IS COSTLY.
GERMAN DECLARES
Berlin, March 13.—Gentle-
men may prefer blondes but—
blondes are more expensive
than brunettes!
They get ill much easier
and much more frequently
than brunettes, says Profes-
sor Schloesser, after a study
of 500 women.
Brunettes, says the profes:
sor, have greater resistance,
except for certain diseases
which depend on tempera-
ment, such as neuralgia, gout
and liver complaint.
"Red heads combine the
characteristics of blondes and
brunettes,” says Professor
Schoesser.

He keeps records from his
flocks and these show that he

February, a total of 5S6 dozen
eggs. The total income for
the month of February from
this flock of hens was 851.30.

276 Eggs Net 237
Chicks at Weimar
Weimar. Tex.. March 11.—
Manager Schietinger of the
Sanitary hatchery cf this city
reports a most remarkable
hateb of baby chicks at the
hatchery this week, in which
he state? 237 lively baby
chicks were tak„n off out of
276 eggs furnished by Gerhard
Oncken.
This hatch is reported one of
the finest records ever made in
this part of the state.
From a small beginning sev-
eral years ago with a 2300-egg
incubator, this industry has
grown to such an extent until
it has become necessary to in-
stall s 47,000-egg incubator
which is constantly turning
out around 18,000 chicks per
month. Much impetus has
been given the poultry busi-
ness and large shipments are
being made all over the South.

Tonopah, Nev., March 12.—
Evidence that Weepah, new
gold boom town northwest of
here, rests on a golden founda-
tion was plentiful here Satur-
day, after its diacovery had
given demonstrations to skep-
tical arrivals.
While 200 persons looked
mi a newspaper reporter,
guided by Frank Horton, own-
er of Weepah’s principal
claim, dug his fist into the
earth and pulled out as much
rocky soil as his hand could
hold. A San Francisco news-
paper man crushed it and It
was panned by Horton. It pro-
duced two tablespoonfuls of
gold.
Thirteen ore sacks, filled as
the result of leisurely picking
on the claim, stood near by.
Etch contained about eighty
pounds of ore. Horton said
each sack would produce 51,-
800 worth of gold.
