BARTLETT TEXAS
Farmers Requested To Join In
Effort To Retain Bartlett CCC Camp
TpARMERS of the Bartlett Community are urged by the
Uhamber of Commerce to call at the Chamber of Com-
merce offices Friday or Saturday and sign letters Which are
to be sent by air mail Saturday night to Texas Congress-
men and to other Federal Government officials stressing the
importance of retaining the CCC. camp in Bartlett.
The Bartlett Chamber of Commerce has reasons to be-
lieve that the local camp will be imoved March 31st unless
something is done. Three hundred camps will be disband-
ed over the nation at this time and citizens of the Bartlett
Community do not want Camp 3805 to be one of that 300.
This effort to prove to government officials that Bartlett
farmers want the Service appears to be the only possibility
of keeping the soil conservation service here.
Enough work is reported to be under conditional con-
tract to keep the camp busy until (midsummer and enough
is in prospect to keep the camp busy for another year. If
the farmers want the service bad enough and cooperate in
this effort to retain it here it may be possible to keep the
CCC. Camp in Bartlqtt. -
Farmers in the" entire area served by the camp are re-
quested to call at the Chamber of Commerce office and
add their signature to the letters being sent. This area in-
cludes ibesides Bartlett Holland Granger Schwertner Jar-
rell Pavilla and the territory in between.
