NOTICE
Public Notice
The Texas Water Commis-
sion ("TWC”) sets drinking
water standards and has de-
termined that the presence of
microbiological contami-
nants are a health concern at
certain levels of exposure. If
water is inadequately
treated, microbiological con-
taminants in the water may
cause disease. Disease symp-
toms may include diarrhea,
cramps, nausea and possibly
jaundice and any associated
headaches and fatigue. These
symptoms, however, are not
just associated with disease-
causing organisms in drink-
ing water, but also may he
caused by a number of fac-
tors other than your drinking
water. The TWC has set en-
forceable requirements for
treating drinking water to re-
duce the risk of these adverse
health effects. Treatment
such as filtering and disin-
fecting the water removes or
destroys microbiological con-
taminants. Drinking water
which is treated to meet
TWC requirements is associ-
ated with little to none of this
risk and should be con-
sidered safe.
The City of East Tawakoni
Water System failed to meet
the minimum treatment tech-
nique requirements on Au-
gust 1 through August 31,
1993. Specifically, the City of
F^mory allowed the turbidity
of the filtered water to exceed
5.0 NTU.
If you desire additional in-
formation regarding the na-
ture and significance of this
violation, you may contact
Dossie Smith at (903)
