Alba-Golden
4th Grade
Field Trip
What is it that 37 students, 3
teachers, 1 principal, an aide
and 9 parents have in common?
Pond memories of a study trip!
Saturday, May 9. an Alba-
Golden fourth grade student
“entourage” went on a study
trip to Fort Worth, Texas.
First they visited the Museum
of Science and History where
they were able to relate many
of the exhibits to their school
work - from dinosaurs
skeletons to an Apollo space
suit. While at the museum the
group also attended a show ing
of “The Dream is Alive" at
the Omni Theater. This film
simulates an actual space flight
aboard a spaee shuttle. The
astronauts' weightlessness in
flight was especially
fascinating to the viewers.
After Omni, the group ate a
picnic lunch then proceeded to
the Japanese Gardens. The
transformation of former
gravel pits to beautiful land-
scaped gardens was ap-
preciated by one and all.
However, feeding the large,
multi-colered carps in the
Jens' nonds was the da\s
“biggest" event. One student
was overheard asking if he
could catch one and take it
home for dinner!
Next on the trip was CAsa
Manana to see a production of
“Heidi”. Monies to pay for
the students' tickets to this
musical was earned at a bake
sale hosted and run by parent
volunteers. Casa's theater-in-
the-round layout was a new ex-
perience for many of the
students. Having the actors
walk on and off stage using the
aisle immediately next to one's
seat was unusually exciting
-making the actors more real
than usual.
Leaving Casa the group
headed for the last event of the
day, a tour of the Fort Worth
Zoo. Teachers and parents ex-
pecting the youngsters to be
entralled with the exotic
animals on exhibit, were sur-
prised at how often they heard.
“Look. Mrs. Davenport,
there's a squirrel!" Native
animals scurry ing freely in the
park were unique to the
students.
Before traveling toward
Alba, the group enjoyed a se-
cond picnic meal. 1: had been a
long and eventful day. Weary
adults boarded the bus an-
ticipating a quiet journey
home. However, the young
travelers were too excited to sit
quietly. They had too many ex-
periences to share, souvenirs to
display, songs to sing and
jokes to tell to slow down for a
minute ... and they
remembered, without adult
prompting, to express their ap-
preciation to their teachers for
having planned the trip.
Thank you for taking us ...
thank you for giving up your
Saturday ... thank you for
making it fun!"
Alba-Golden has super,
super students!!!!

I don't know where wc art
burning, but haste has be-
come habitual. I wonder
what most people do with the
time they save by hurrying. I
doubt that haste makes lift
any richer. It usually just
makes life more complicated.
