We appreciate everyone that
donated for the auction and

Also we would like to say
Bob Russell did a great job
with the auction and appreciate
his help so much.
We had drawings
throughout the show : two free
fish dinners at The Parson's
Smokehouse, won by Cozly
Fngle of Garland; two free
barbecue dinners at The Par
son's Smokehouse, won by
Jewel Cooper of Emory; $25

ly. won by Mack Hutchins of
Alba; $25 gift certificate at
Johnnye's Western Wear, won
by Doug Johnson of Dallas.
A special thanks to all the
buyers at the auction, and to all
the businesses that bought ads
on the fliers, also all the dona-
tions by individuals. You are
the ones that pay the expenses
for the show We appreciate
your help.
I want to personally thank
my committee for the hours of
work they put in. They are
Kenneth Gowin, El & Elber-
tine Luckett. Ron & Nancy
Fenter. Gunner & Sherry
Terry. Linda Herriage and
Michelle &. Daren Davis. Also
anyone else that helped in any
way.
I was really impressed with
some of the members of the
Child Welfare Board. They at-
tended my meeting and volun-
teered to take on part of the
work. That makes us feel like
what we do is really appre-
ciated.
Our Arts & Crafts netted
S180. We did not have as many
set up this year. The ones that
did said they did pretty good.
We decided to put enough
money in the bank to pay for
next year’s show. We hope it
can start supporting itself. That
way we won’t have to sell ads
next year to pay the expense.
Most of this year's proceeds
will go to the needy children of
Rains County. We hope it will
help provide some things they
might be in need of.
We decided also to make a
donation to the Library Build-
ing Fund. They are trying to
build a new building for the
library. It would be nice for
Emory to have a well equipped

library for everyone's use.
We turned the food booth
over to the Beautification
Committee this year. They did
real well with it That will help
them with funds they needed.
Hope everyone enjoyed the
Bluegrass Festival this year
and will be there next year and
bring a friend that has never
been

not been spent, the interest for

In addition to the payments
for capital improvements and
bonded indebtedness. Rains
LSD also received the interest
from the Permanent School
Fund that has been invested in
bonds and certificates of
deposit. Since 1974 the Rains
ISD has received the following
listed amounts from the Avail-
able School Fund The Avail
able School Fund is the earn-
ings from the Permanent
School Fund
1974 $17,391.37
1975 - $18,416.33

1986 $420,000.00
Total Available Funds to Rains
ISD from 1974 to 1986
SI. 838.991,78.
The total amount that Rains
ISD has received from the Per
manent Fund and Available
Fund is approximately
$3,865,600.00.
At this time there is approx-
imately $5,000,000.00 in the
Permanent School Fund.
Royalty payments have been
about $25,000.00 per month
due to the depressed price of
gas and oil. This permanent
fund brings in more than
$420,000.00 per year that the
Rains ISD can use in the opera
tion of the school. When you
spend your investment, you
lose income from now for-
ward. Spend your investment
and pay higher and higher
taxes to replace the funds lost.
Let your investment grow , get
more income from a larger in-
vestment and pay lower taxes.
This year your tax rate would
have been about 25 cents
higher if the Permanent School
Fund had been spent as it was
received. Also the higher tax
would have been paid each and
every year in the future.
By contacts that I have had.
the people are overwhelmingly
in favor of conserving the Per
manent School Fund by letting
it grow They are concerned
about lower taxes now and
lower taxes in the future
