The Lake Fork Chamber of
Commerce is pleased to an-
nounce that Bob Sealy of Sealy
Outdoors has agreed to produce
the First Annual Big Catfish
Splash* at Lake Fork on July 10
and 11, 2004. This is a guaran-
teed S.18,000 event, making it
one of the richest catfish tourna-
ments and the first of its kind in
Texas.
Mr Sealy has agreed to con-
duct the event with the chamber
serving as the beneficiary of the
proceeds. “It is a significant day
for the businesses and organiza-
tions in the Lake Fork area to
have Sealy Outdoors conduct
the first cattish tournament at
Lake Fork The economy needs
a shot in the arm, and it is a
proven fact that business gets
better when major tournaments
are held here More than one
business owner has told me of
the need for an additional fish-
ing tournament in the bass fish-
ing ‘off season' and this satisfies
that need," according to Ron
Lewis, Chairman of the Board
of Directors for the Lake Fork
(' hamber of ( ommerce
One of the major sponsors for
the event is the Wood County
Industrial Commission who has
earmarked $15,000 for market-
ing and promoting the event
“The WC1C will not only be a
sponsor but will be a strong sup-
porter of the project's objectives
and the initiative to add another
tournament, in cooperation with
Sealy Outdoors, that will con-
tribute even more to the eco-
nomic activity in Wood County
and the Lake Fork Area For the
three-month period of July-
August-September 2001, the
total revenue received for Hotel
Motel Occupancy lax Report
was down about I5"„ from the
same period a year ago," stated
Clary McKinley, Executive Di-
rector of the Wood County In-
dustrial Commission "We need
this tournament"
Sealy Outdoors has garnered
national attention and credibility
being verv successful in promot-
ing fishing tournaments around
the country including the Big
Bass Splash’ McDonalds Tourn-
ament held on Lake Fork this
past September I here were ap
proximately .1,600 entries m the
bass tournament and a large
turn-out is expected for this first
of its kind cattish tournament
