PARIS- Bobby G Littlefield,
Jr, P.E. has been named the
Paris district engineer for the
Texas Department of Trans-
portation (TxDOT) effective
December I. The Pans District
includes Delta. Fannin, Frank-
lin, Grayson, Hopkins, Hunt.
Lamar. Rains, and Red River
Counties
A total of 368 employees
work within the district. Little-
field tills the position held by
James G. Freeman, PE, who
retired on August 31.
Littlefield 'is TxDOT’s 2003
Dewitt C. Greer award winner
and currently serves as the Sher-
man area engineer in the Paris
District. Numerous mobility and
safety improvements have been
accomplished during Little-
field's tenure in Sherman,
including the near-completion
of relocated US 82 and the
replacement of an historic truss
bridge over the Red River in
Grayson County.
He also oversaw implementa-
tion of the first “Super 2“ design
sections in the Paris District,
which added intermittent pass-
ing lanes on SH I2I in Fannin
County to relieve commuter
congestion He is currently man-
aging the complete reconstruc-
tion of US 73 in southern
Grayson County, which at $46.3
million, is the largest contract
ever awarded in the Paris Dis-
trict.
Littlefield was born in Dallas
and grew up in Sulphur Springs.
He has worked exclusively in
the Paris District during his 14-
year career at TxDOI. begin-
ning in June 1484 as an engi-
neering assistant in the Sulphur
Springs area office w here he was
promoted in May 1484 to assis-
tant resident engineer
In December 1493. Littlefield
w as selected for his current posi-
tion of Sherman area engineer
His skill at cultivating effective
partnerships between local
transportation leaders has led to
the replacement of some 30
deteriorated bridges throughout
the district Under his guidance,
cooperative relationships forged
among these leaders have result
ed in successful projects to con-
struct or reconstruct eight city
streets.
In addition, Littlefield's
strong commitment to the env i-
ronment and active participation
in the Xdopt-a-Highway pro-
gram has led to recognition of
his office by fxDOT's environ-
mental div ision and Keep lexas
