Rep. Harry N. Graves of
Georgetown has issued a
synopsis of his state adminis-
trative code bill. The synopsis
takes nine sheets of legal-sized
paper, two and a half pages
single-spaced. The bill Itself
has 133 pages.
Graves proposes to set up
19 administrative departments
to handle all work now done
by 113 bureaus, departments
and commissions. His bill is op-
posed by those who would set
up 25 more commissions, bu-
reaus and agencies under bills
now before the legislature.

Tarrant and Jefferson coun-
ties have displaced Dallas'
and Harris counties in having
dissension within their House
delegations. Tarrant represen-
tatives differ on nearly every
close question. Jefferson coun-
ty had one dispute which be-
came so acute that more than
30 members refused to vote
on the question.
Dallas legislators, who fre-
quently differed last session,
move along harmoniously now,
saving their efforts for a Cen-
tennial appropriation drive.
Harris legislators likewise
show unusual unanimity.
Mrs. James V. Allred, wife
of the governor, had her ■first
airplane trip last week. She
flew with the governor to
Amarillo for “mother-in-law
day." She enjoyed it. As a
result. Governor 'Allred likely
will do more flying. He stop-
ped after his arm was cut in a
flying accident because Mrs.
Allred became uneasy about
his flying.

The governor returned to
Austin enthusiastic about Palo
Duro Canyon and work being
done to make the park acces-
sible to visitors. Grand Can-
yon. Colorado's Garden of the
Gods and other places have
nothing better to show, Allred
insisted after a short trip
through Palo Duro Canyon.
COLBERT SINGS
SCORES SMASH
IN “GILDED LILY”
LAST TIME TODAY
One of those gay, efferves-
cent and light-hearted come-
dies, Paramount’s “The Gilded
Lily," at the 'Palace Theatre
last time today, scores anoth-
er hit for its star Claudette
Colbert who has been seen in
so many of the recent season’s
successes.
Assisted by Fred Mac,Mur-
ray and Ray Millfir.d in the
principal romantic roles, Miss
Colbert gives an entire per-
formance in her topnotch
comedy vein, with short and
delightful sequences of the
dancing and singing she first
introduced in “Torch Singer.”
In “The Gilded Lily,” Miss
Colbert plays a romantic soul,
a girl who expects love to blow
her “three feet off the
ground.’’ Until the fateful
moment—and love—arrive,
she is content to sit on a park
bench with her shipnews re-
porting pal, .MacHurray, and
munch popcorn. '
Love arrives—and parts.
Through a series of extraordi-
nary incidents Miss Col bert be-
comes the most sought-after
and popular night club enter-
tainer on two continents. But
the series of mad and exciting
episodes bring her finally to
the realization that she really
loved only one man and never
knew It The final episode
shows 'Miss Colbert and Mac-
Murray happily reunited on
the park bench where they can
watch the world go by.
Bristling with fresh sallies
of wit and crisp, fast dialogue,
“The Gilded Lily” moves
rapidly and happily from
opening scene to final fade-
out. Wesley Ruggles turned
in a fine job of direction and
all the players, including C.
Aubrey Smith, Luis Alberni
and Tom Dugan, contribute to
the general hilarity.
