“Everlasting Punishment” is
the subject of the.lesson-sert
mon in all Churches of Christ,
Scientist, on Sunday, Oct. 29.
The Golden Text is: “The
Lord knoweth how to deliver
the godly out of. temptations,
1 and to reserve the unjust unto
the day of judgment to be
punished” (II Peter 2:9).
Among the citations which
comprise the lesson-sermon is
the following from the Bible:
“And Jesus said, Are ye also
yet without understanding?
. . . For out of the heart pro-
ceed evil thoughts, murders,
adulteries, fornications, thefts,
false witness, blasphemies:
These are the things which
defile a man” (Matthew
15:16,18,20).
The lesson-sermon also in-
cludes the following passage
from the Christian Science
textbook, “Science and Health
with Key to the Scriptures” by
Mary Baker Eddy: "IKvine
Science adjusts Hie balance as
Jesus adjusted it. Science re-
moves the penalty only by first
removing the sin which incurs
the penalty. This is my sense
of divine pardon, which I un-
derstand to mean God’s meth-
od of destroying sin” (page
40). _

Last Wednesday several
men of the community met to
cut wood for the church and
the pastor’s salary. We are
having to use every means we
can to try to pay out We ap-
preciate very much Hie fine
spirit of cooperation on the
part of these men, who came
to do their part. They were:
Messrs. Crow Swann, Obie
Swann. Boy Crump, G. B. San-
ford, W. C. Rain bolt, Roy
Stone, Burney Stone, Henry
Ash, Frank Ash, George
Moore. Otis Thomas, Bob An-
derson and John Cornell. The
women served dinner, assisted
in loading the wagons and
held their missionary society
in the afternoon.

We have many big days at
Caledonia—but when we say
we had a big day Sunday we
mean that in every sense of
the word. We had the pleas-
ure of having our county nurse,
Miss Ayres, with us for the
first time. She made a splen-
did health talk. She certainly
must agree with the one who
said: “H is better to prepare
and prevent than to repair
and repent.” We hope she may
be with us often. We need her
help.
Then, we had the happy
privflege of having Him Staf-
ford with us for a second visit.
We have appreciated so much
the help she has given us. and
when she comes down here to
visit us and makes a fine talk
like she did, she Inspires us to
want to do more and better
things for ourselves than ever
before. We alwevs enjoy her
visits.
But that wasn't all! No, sir!
Didn’t we tell you we had a
big day?
In the afternoon we held a
clinic, especially for babies
and children of pre-school age,
but even the older ones were
examined. Dr. Shipp and
Miss Hughes of Henderson
came down, and with the
heln of Miss Ayres and Miss
Ollie Jeffress, who is one at

■THE LEADING DRUGGIST"
“Baylor’s best”—this was a
real clinic. We appreciate all
of these visitors ao much, and
eapecialty the fact that they
were willing and glad to give
of their time on Sunday after-
noon, to come down and serve
our people. We cannot tell
the good that may have been
accomplished by their coming.
Certainly we need medical ad-
vice very much and we feel
that these friends will be hap-
py because they were permit-
ted to serve, and think of the
passage: “Inasmuch as ye have
done it unto one of the least of
these, my brethren, ye have
doae it unto me.” Better that
—by far—than to bear the
words: “Inasmuch as ye have
done it not unto one of the
least of these, my brethren, ye
have done it not unto me.”
