We have had a beautiful week
other than the rain on Friday. The
oak leaves are taking on a coppery
look and we know that autumn is
really here. The ragweed flowering
is another reminder.
We were astonished to get home
from church and find out that we
have made an attempt to get at the
Taliban.
Arlie Holman brought me a Scott
family genealogy list he had assem-
bled.
Bro. Wayne Wolfe, Diana and
Justin were not at church Sunday.
They were at the Dallas Fair with
Justin’s show animals. We missed
Loyd Giles and the Mike Groves
family also.
We were so happy to have Hilma
and Pete Rayshell with us Sunday at
church. Hilma is a great musician.
She helps with the song service.
The beautiful flower arrangement
by Comeila Garrett was dedicated
to the memory of Della Terry, who
died October 12, 1979; Velma
Sparks, who died October 12,1961;
Murl Cooke, who died October 15,
1992; and Ruth Gilbert, who died
October 15, 2000.
Bro. Arvis Asbill Oiled the pulpit
in Bro. Wayne Wolfe’s absence. We
had a wonderful service. Bro. Asbill
took the book of Jude 24-25 for his
text. The title of his sermon was
“The Ability of Christ.”
Darlene Blanton and Rhonda
Donaldson brought four little boys
with them to church. The boys were
Daniel, John, Colton, and Joseph
Potts.
Those on our prayer list are Verna
Barnett, Evelyn Cooke, Betty
Holman, Doris Giles, Philip Boney,
our church, Our country and the
ones who are called for active duty.
Have a great week.

“But God commendeth his love
toward us, in that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8
We had a good service Wednes-
day night. We had some good
singing. Bro. Lloyd led us in prayer.
Bro. Jimmy brought us a message
from Matthew 11:28-30 entitled
“Come to the Lord and Rest.” Bro.
V.C. closed with prayer.
Thursday night was visitation.
Our church is coming along real
good. We praise the Lord for being
so good to us and helping us to
make decisions. Without Him we
could do nothing.
Our morning service began with
Guy bringing the devotional from II
Timothy 7:12 entitled “I Know.” He
dismissed with prayer as we went to
Sunday school. Tommy taught us a
good lesson from Hebrews 6:13-20
called “Strong Consolation.”
We had a good crowd Sunday.
Our worship service began with
some praise songs. Jay was out of
town so I led the singing and once
again all of our band was there.
Iney do a good job. Odell and
Virgil received the morning offer-
ing. Bro. Jimmy gave the announce-
ments and welcomed the visitors.
We had several visitors and we wel-
come them and hope they will come
again.
We sang Happy Birthday to little

We Invite you to etudy God 's

old. May God bless him and pray he
will have many more.
Our special music was brought
by Cheryl, Nikki, LaRissa, and
myself. We are so glad to have our
little ones coming up and singing
for us. They are always welcome to
do so. Bro. Jimmy preached from
Isaiah 60:1-2. Tommy dismissed
with prayer.
Today was our family day. After
church we had lunch together in the
fellowship hall. We didn't have our
singing today. We voted not to have
it for a while, so we will have regu-
lar services at 6:00 p.m.
We still have some sick and we
need to remember them in prayer.
Dorothy Ray will have surgery
tomorrow; let’s be sure and keep
her in our prayers. As our service
began with God’s precious hymns,
and our special music was brought
by Mary Miller and I-ouise Moss.
Bro. Jimmy’s message came from
John 3:16. It was a great message.
We were elad to have some more
visitors with us. J.D. closed with
prayer. Everyone needs to pray for
our nation as we are at war. Pray for
our president and the leaders of our
nation that they will seek God
before making any decisions. Pray
for our pastor and his wife, the sick,
the bereaved, the lost, and each
other.
Have a great week and may God
bless you.
Don’t forget to pray for our
nation.

- FREE ADMISSION-
by Kay Stripling
“It’ll soon be Christmas,” Juan
Carlos sighed. “Yes,” we all agreed
as we talked about the meeting that
we had attended at the mission. It
was the bi-monthly meeting of the
mission committee, and He
lermana
Phyllis had asked if we were still
planning to prepare and give out
Christmas stockings this year. Bro.
Jim replied, “Yes! We want our
young people to get to experience
giving to missions.” The committee
then agreed that at our next meeting
on December 6 we will discuss final
plans for our Christmas stocking
project. On the Saturday morning
before Christmas school break at
Rains, young people from the the
First Baptist Church of Point,
Emory Baptist, and Casa de Dios
will meet to stuff stockings and will
then hand them out. This tradition
has grown out of the mission
English class and hopefully will
become an area-wide tradition. This
year we would like to be able to
give a little Christmas to everyone
in need in our area, not just to
Hispanics. Before the December 6
meeting please contact one of these
churches if you know of someone
who is in need or if you would like
to provide a stocking or stocking
staffers or help in any way. We need
small New Testaments, fruit, nuts,
peanuts in the shell (a Christmas
tradition in Mexico), caridy, gum,
candy canes, little tree ornaments,
small games, puzzles, or toys.
Bro. Alfaro requested a small
building to house our lawnmower
and lawn equipment. He also
reported to the committee about the
need to purchase the adjoining
property. “We are hemmed in here
and will never be able to grow if we
don’t do something,” he reported.
He mentioned how hard it was to
get into the church building through
the parking lot. I had noticed. I had
taken the blue van to pick up Juan
Carlos and his family for the meet-
ing, and when I returned we could-
n’t get near the church for the cars
at the community center. It’s the
same on Saturday nights for the
English class and many Sunday
mornings. We also discussed the
need for the mission to do some
more fundraisers for our building
fund. Bro. Alfaro was delighted to
Nt*r that Mrs. Williams of the First
Baptist Church of Point has volun-
teered to help him to coordinate
volunteers.
We also received word that
Emory Baptist Church is giving us
money to buy a computer program
for learning English to put in our lit-
tle learning center. If you know of a
good program that you would rec-
ommend, please let us know. We
have some very hard-working stu-
dents who are faithful to come to
the class as well as the mission on
Wednesdays and Sundays.
This Saturday we spent the after-
noon at the Sulphur Springs Mu-
seum at their Indian Summer Days
Festival. Learning about our culture
is part of E.S.L. “This is just like
Mexico,” Jose said. “Yes,” I replied,
“only this is how we did things
about 100 years ago.” I asked what
be liked best about the festival.”
Everything,” ha replied, “especially
the stew.”
Dorothd Bryant has asked me to
be sure and let everyone know that
there is a low-cost clinic at the
Methodist Church in Emory each
third Tuesday to receive patients.
She expressed a great desire to help
those in need of treatment and says
not to worry about money or Social
Security numbers.
Bro. Adolfo Alfaro’s message
entitled “We Need to Have Com-
passion for the Lost” was taken
from Mathew 23:37.
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou
that killest the prophets, and stonest
them which arc sent unto thee, how
often would 1 have gathered thy
children together, even as a hen
gathereth her chickens under her
wings, and ye would not!”

Daniel answered and said,
“Blessed be the name of God for-
ever and ever; for wisdom and
might are His, and He changeth the
times and the seasons; He removeth
Kings, and setteth up Kings; He
giveth wisdom unto the wise, and
knowledge to those that knoweth
understanding.” Daniel 2:20-21
It was such a joy and privilege to
go to church this morning. It was a
beautiful day. one that was me^nt.fo
be shared with the people you love,
joining together in the worship of
our li»rd. I hope you shared the
same feeling with your loved ones.
The morning service was opened
with a prayer by Bro. Wade Eadic
who informed us how glad he was
to be hack with us.
I’hc singing was led by Bro. Neil
Norton, accompanied by our musi-
cians, Charles Corry and Bill
Ijowry.
The announcements were given
by Bro. Mike O’Connor. They are
as follows: October 14, there will be
a search committee meeting;
October 17, at 6:30 p.m. there will
be a business meeting after the
Wednesday night services; October
19, we will have our Friday night
monthly meeting social. Come and
bring a covered dish and join your
fellow Christians for fun, food, and
fellowship. I know you will have a
wonderful time. On Sunday,
October 28, the daylight savings
time ends, please remember to reset
your clocks so that you will not be
early for the morning services.
We were also asked to remember
to pray for those on our prayer list,
especially Bro. Wade’s dad. Bro.
Wade informed us that his operation
went well, and he is progressing
slowly, but could regress in his
progress at any time as it was dis-
covered that he has more medical
problems than was diagnosed at
first that could occur in the future.
We want to include Wanda Soden,
who had an operation on her wrist,

in the Lord. All Sunday school
classes were taught well. We were
glad to have visitors from Apostolic
Faith of Emory including Bro.
Franklin and Bro. Brull. We are
always happy to have visitors. We
were glad to have Sis. Mary Hobbs

It was reported that a good time
was had at the opening of Pastor
Ron and Evangelist Patrice Garcia’s
Church Greater Love Christian
Fellowship in San Antonio. The
church was established by Apostle
Dwight Smith, and several of the
members from our church attended
this service. We will pray for th<
sick, incarcerated, and bereaved
families.
We will have a pre-Thanksgiving
dinner at the Rains County Fair-
grounds in Emory on October 27 at
11:00 a.m. There is no cost, but
donations are welcomed and will go
toward our building fund. Come
and enjoy a great meal. We will In-
celebrating our Bishop Charles and
Pastor Barbara Smith’s anniversary
on Sunday, October 14. Everyone is
welcome.
Have a blessed week.

and Martha Courson, Janet Dennis,
Nell Rosamond, and all the others
on our prayer list. May their health
continue to improve and that they
may soon be back in services.
The offertory prayer was by Bro.
Kenneth Apcl.
1’hc beautiful special for this
morning was sung by Srnija Norton
and was enjoyed very much by all.
Bro. Eadic s sermon was entitled
“The Answer for When It Can’t be
Done,” lakcn from Daniel 2:1-28.
He reminded us that alj things arc
possible with God.
The closing prayer was given by
young Russell McJilton.
Our evening service was opened
with a prayer by Bro. Eadic. The
song service was led by Bro.
Norton accompanied on the piano
by Bro. Corry. We sang several old-
time hymns with gusto.
Bro. Eadic’s message was enti-
tled “Weirdo-Looking Christians in
a Lost World,” taken from Acts
27:1-36. We were reminded not to
be ashamed to be a man, woman, or
child of God.
The closing prayer was by Bro.
Mike O’Connor.
I want to remind you that
America is again in the midst of a
terrible situation, and we as Chris-
tians should show our support by
giving of our money, our blood and
our prayers for our leaders. Ask
God to lead them in the way they
should go for the good of all the
people of the world, not just for
Americans.
Keep on praying and believing
that God is still in charge, and I will
sec you in church next Sunday. May
God bless you all.
