ROAD & BRIDGE REPORT
by Avis Jones, County Road & Bridge Administrator
Point Funeral Home
We offer traditional services, cremations, headstones,
pre-arranged funeral plans and burial property at
Lakeside Memorial Park.
P.O. box 358 • Highway 69 • Point, Texas 75472
(903) 598-2242 - Ines Ivy, Manager
by Avis Jones
Rood and Bridge Administrator.
It took a few days longer than we
thought, but the bridge over Glade
Creek on CR 2110 is now open. The
bridge, which reopened on Monday,
August 6, was completely rebuilt of
steel and concrete and will provide
safe transportation for our school
buses and the traveling public for
many years to come.
And then, not one to stay idle, the
Unit Road System bridge building
team began the very next day to
rebuild the bridge over Brushy
Creek on CR 1275. Unfortunately,
the work may not be completed
before school starts. Please bear
with us and remember the extreme
heat of August takes its toll on the
men who are working, often wear-
ing welding helmets as they weld
steel supports and guardrails. We
remind you to take an alternate
route when traveling in the area.
Since July 30, the following work
was completed by the road work-
ing/paving crews:
• Tore out CR 3422 for additional
base and retopping.
• Patched with oil/sand mixture in
Precincts 1 and 4.
• Brush-axed limbs in Precincts 2
and 3.
• Cleaned ditches and hauled dirt
in Precinct I.
• Cleaned debris and excess dirt at
B&B Building site.
• Installed sewer and water to
Road and Bridge Administrator’s
new office building on Unit
Road yard.
• Performed general maintenance
on equipment, especially on
Bomag and mixer as we prepare
to Bomag and redo CR 2220.
In the next two weeks, we will be
patching with oil/sand mixture
throughout the county, replacing a
large culvert on CR 2450 and mov-
ing into the new office building.
NOTICE: At this time the bridge
over Brushy Creek on CR 1275 is
closed for bridge replacement and
will remain closed until work is
completed.
CR 2220 will be closed for a few
days from Hwy. 19 to CR 2110 as
the road work and paving crew
rework the road. The work will
include Bomaging and reoiling and
replacement of at least two culverts.
The public’s cooperation during
these closings and while the work
crews are working county road
maintenance has been very support-
ive. Our thanks to you for that.
