Mr. and Mrs, W. W. Nye,
who built a new brick home in
the Chance community, are
temporarily at home after liv-
ing in Turkey a year. Mr. Nye.
an employee of the Foster-
Wheeler Construction Com-
pany, has been helping to build
a new refinery in Turkey, and
is awaiting another assignment.
Mrs, Nye is the sister of Reu-
bin Martin.
While in Turkey, by coinci-
dence, Mrs. Nye and Mrs. Flo
Stark, whose husband also vat
employed in Turkey, were hos-
pitalized at the same time. Mrs.
Stark formerly taught at Kirby
Elementary School in Silsbee,
and her parents are resident of
Chance community.
Mr and Mrs. Reubin Martin
attended memorial sen ices held
annually in Teague, Texas, at
the cemetery where her mo-
ther, Mrs. Hattie Adams, >s in-
terred, last Sunday. They also
visited friends in J.Iexia and
Wortham.
Mr. Martin reports his mo-
ther, Mrs. Brummett, who is a
resident of Schlesinger’s home,
is not doing well. She suffered
a broken hip some six weeks
ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh William-
son and Mr. and Mrs. Roger
Hargraves and theiiv' families
enjoyed a two-day camping
trip on Village Creek near
Kountze last week.
The WMU of the First Bap-
tist Church of Lumberton is
having Bible Study today at
the Church. The Sunbeam
Bards and the Intermediate
Girl’s Auxiliary are all meet-
ing on Wednesday nights dur-
ing the Summer at the church.
Mrs. C. R. Hargraves, Mrs.
Hugh Williamson, and Mrs. Ed.
D. Ingle were present at Good
Shepherd Baptist Church last
week when the WMU of the
newly organized Neches River
Association met for organiza-
tion and to make plans for the
new church year which begins
Oct. 1. Total present exceeded
85 people.
Mrs. Williamson has been
elected the new First Baptist
of Lumberton WMU president,
and has also accepted the YWA
associational director position
in the new association.
W. C. Matthews returned
home from St. Elizabeth Hos-
pital Thursday after two weeks
of treatment for an injured
back.
Mrs. Ed Lee spent two days
last week with her sister. Mrs.
K.itie Bass, in Warren. Mrs.
Katie Bass has also returned
home'from two weeks spent in
Woodville Hospital.
Hugh Williamson has been
elected president and W. J.
Stovall ’'ice president of the
newly organized Brotherhood
of the First Baptist Church of
Lumberton. The men will meet
monthly, but had an extra
meeting last Tuesday night at
the church for further plan-
ning. Guest speaker was the
Rev. DeLoaeh of First Baptist,
Loeb.

made the trip.

spending a month with his
grandmother, Mrs. Maude Kirk-

urday night and Sunday. Sally
Ann McCary returned home
with them. She had been visit-
ing in Houston for a w'eek.

Miss Linda Lowe, a niece of

urday afternoon.
Mrs. J. C. Toole and Kay and
Janice McCoy left Vidalia Sat-
urday evening for Jackson,
Miss. Janice is returning to
Pascagoula, Miss., after spend-
ing two weeks here with the
Tooles. Mr. Toole and his mo-
ther, Mrs. Watkins, left Friday
morning for Jackson. They all
returned home Tuesday bring-
ing Mrs. Sidney F.sters chil-
dren home with them.

Saturday night and Sunday

Attends Workshop At
TWU in Denton
More than 150 women learn-
ed the latest rapid clothing
construction methods when
Mrs. Edna Brvte Bishop con-
ducted her tenth summer work-
shop at the Texas Woman's
University.
The one-week course was one
of 13 being given this summer
by the TWU College of House-
hold Arts and Sciences.
Those enrolled included Mrs.
Tom Singletary, 635 N. 8th St.,
Silsbee, who is home econom-
ics' teacher at Silsbee High

Funeral services for Mrs.
Forrest Sturrock, a former resi-
dent of Loeb community, were
held Tuesday at 3 p. m. in First
Baptist Church at Colmesneil
vcith interment in a cemetery
in Colmesneil. She was a resi-
dent of Schlesinger’s Home and
died there Monday morning.
She had a host of friends in
Loeb.
Mother Shawver accompan-
ied her son and his family,
E. D. Shawver, to Pint-land
Saturday where she remained
while Shirley and family went
to the bedside of her father in
a Center hospital where he re-
ceived emergeeny surgery Fri-
day night. They returned to the
Lynn Robinson home in Pine-
land Sunday afternoon for a
brief visit. His mother returned
to her home and they returned
to LaMarque.
Mrs. Katie Seals was honored
Tuesday morning with a stork
shower in the home of her mo-
ther, Mrs. C. H. Smith. Mrs.
Shirley Tomlinson was host.
Mrs. D. W. Elgrton and son
and his family of Osyka, Miss.,
are guests of her daughter,
Mrs. John Shawver and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Butchee
had her sister and family of
Newton as weekend guests.
Jo Ann Monic was returned
to her home Monday from St.
Elizabeth's Hospital.

Mrs. C. D. Barland is in St.
Elizabeth’s Hospital She was
in a car accident Sunday in
Beaumont. She was with Mr.
and Mrs. Ford Gremillion,
guests in her home and they
had attended the nurse’s gradu-
ation in Hotel Dieu where their
daughter, Miss Millie Gremil-
lion, was a graduate. They
were returning to the Barland
home when the accident hap-
pened. They will return to their
home in New Rhodes, La., Fri-
day if Mrs. Barland continues
to improve.
Group 2 BTU class of Loeb
First Baptist Church will go
Thursday night to Bridge City
for a supper and a social hour.
Members of Group 1 went to
Dam B Friday night. The RA’s
will meet Thursday night at
church at 7:30. Alice Keith Cir-
cle meets Thursday at 10 a. m.

Wilcox at same time in Lorene
Michael Griffin from Ana-
huac returned to his home over
the weekend after a week's
visit with his aunt and uncle
in the J. F. Griffin home.

fractured her left knee cap at
her home last Thursday. She
is now with her son and family
Mr. and Mrs. Willie Holland,
in Warren. Mr. and Mrs. L. A
Sutton, and children returned
to Loeb for a visit. While here
Mr. and Mrs. Troy and Mr. and
Mrs. R. B. Sutton went to La-
redo in Old Mexico for a visit.
Lynette Ross and Diana Lan-
dry are visiting in Baytown
with Lynette's father.
Judy Landry returned to
Port Acres Sunday with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
W. H. Myers for a visit.
M. L. Pipkin has returned
from Huntsville where he at-
tended the bedside of his mo-
ther, Mrs. P. E. Pipkin who
was in a hospital there. She is
convalescing at her home. Mrs.
M. L. Pipkin is attending col-
lege in Huntsville working on
her master of education degree.
She teaches in Chance-Loeb
School.
Mrs. Jimmy Reed and
Holland who have made their daughter, and Mrs. Davenport
of Freeport have been guests
in the K. J. Reed home. They
returned to Freeport Monday.

Baptist Brotherhood Tuesday
at 7:30 p. m. in Lumberton

Caraway Begins
Second Term As
TADA Director
Clifton Caraway of Silsbee
has been re-appointed an As-
sociate Director of the Texas
Automobile Dealers Associ-
ation.
Announcement of the ap-
pointment has been made by
TADA Fresident Joe B. Kinsel
of Beaumont.
TADA is a statewide organi-
zation with a membership of
over 1,300 franchised new-car
and truck dealers. Headquar-
ters are located in Austin with
H. C. Pittman as executive vice
president.
Caraway served as an As-
sociate Director during the as-
sociation’s past fiscal year.
His present term will expire at
TADA’s next annual conven-
tion to be held in Austin next
May.

in the Anahuac Hospital and
his wife is not doing well at

Beyer, a guest from Sarasota,
Fla., with a barbecued turkey
supper and out of town guests
were, Mrs. Joe Knupple of
Silsbee, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur
Thatcher and family and Mr.
and Mrs. Gorman Brewer and
family all of Beaumont.
Mrs. Vina Choate, sister of
Mrs. Armine Goutreaux is a
patient in St. Elizabeth’s Hos-
pital where she is in a serious
condition after some surgery,
according to members of tne
family. Her mother is also a
patient in the same hospital.
Rev. R. DeLoaeh was a busi-
ness visitor in Silsbee Monday,
then took his daughters Paula,
Pamela and Leisa, to visit for
the day in Lake Charles.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Miller
are parents of a son bom in
Baptist Hospital last week. Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Price and Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth Price are
both blessed with a girl each
born Monday several hours
apart at Baptist Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Sutton
and children went to Indiana
to visit his brother for a week
and they, Mr. and Mrs. Troy

Plans Revival
A revival meeting will begin
at ihe All Faith Tabernacle,
two-and-one-half miles north
of Silsbee next Sunday night
vcith services beginning each
evening at 7:45 o’clock.
Rev. Jerry Fugget and his
string trio of New Orleans, re-
cording artists, will be in
charge of the services and will
furnish special music during
the meeting.
