Bicycle Riders Warned
To Stay Off Walks
Parents of children owninjr
bicycles were urged 'today by
Mayor R. W. Miller to warn
their children against the prac-
tice of riding bicycles on the
sidewalks of the town and par-
ticularly to caution them against
the danger of riding past drive-
ways leading in -and out of lum-
ber yards and similar places of
business.
Trucks backing out of drive-
ways have no warnjng of the
sudden appearance across the
middle of a drive of a fast mov
ing bicycle and such practices
may result in serious injury or
death to the rider in such in-
stances. 4
It is against the law to ride
bicycles on the sidewalk and
this law ia -for the benefit of
both bicycle riders and pedes

Announces For Sheriff
(Continued from page 1)
find that most cases of note
were solved and those who vio-
lated the Inw wero brought to
justice.
It is my desire to be of service
to my county state and nation
and to be in position to render
service to my friends nnd the
people of Bell county. During
the years that I sorved as your
sheriff times wore extrtmely
hard and many people wore in
need of a friend. It was my
pleasure to do things for many
of those people for which I have
no regrets. You" may ask the
grocerymen of Bolton and they
will tell you that I bought gro-
ceries for many people that were
in great need of help.
I realize that the most import-
ant matter before the people at
this time is to win the war and
to the mothers and fathers who
have sons in the defense of our
nation you may feel free to
call on me for any service that
I may be able to render.
At this time I have not much
that I can use for money and
the tires on my car are thin
therefore I may not get to see
you in person during this cam-
paign so iu the event I do not
see you please -consider this no-
tice as a special request from me
to you for your support.
Respectfully submitted
