unanimously by the Senate Inst Tues-
day afternoon after having been
amended in a dozen places, hut the
author Is of the opinion that the bill
has not been weakened and that it
will stand the test of the courts if 1*
is Pver taken there The material
amendments were one removing that
provision of the bill which provided
that the vote of the soldiers should
t,(. separated and another kMik ’
district Jullges the right to mandamus
election officials h> Compel them to
allow soldiers to vote instead of lodg-
ing their authority In the supreme
court only. Both these amendments
were contested by McNealus but then-
adoption still retains the main pur
pose of the bill unimpair-d.

wrote the bill which was vetoed, has

Butt ry winged its way to Glory
A few days before, in ttie hope that
her condition could be relieved, an
operation had been performed. Then
came the news that the operation had
left Mrs. Buttery in a we.ikehed con-
dition and that her chance for re-
cover) was slight Friends and loved
ones’ waited patiently for farther
word from her bedside. .Soon came
the announcement that Mrs. Buttery
was better and that she was <1 dug
even better thau the doctors hod an-
ticipated she could do. I.oved ones
and friends were made glad at this.
And then on Monday came th>> start
Ung news that her condition was con-
sidered grave. Honing against hope
