thee for that.
It has rained on Weaver
Hill nost every day this
week. Just ‘ come up a
cloud and rain an inch
or so before you know
it. Les, Larrie, and
Clint tried to fix some
fence in Attoyac bottom.
Almost lost their post,
but ny yard is pretty.
Hibiscus prettier than I
have ever seen them. Day
lillies and white 111-
lies have all been so
pretty. You have to be
fast to keep the grass
cut.
They had a good time and
enjoyed being with the
family. Granny D. is do-
ing real good. It is
getting time for her and
Mary to come to Texas.
Lame and I went to
Center Monday. Norman
said we stayed on the
road, but we always met
him so, who stays on the
road’
The Teskes have had two
of their daughters and
children this week. They
have been canning peas
and that is work. No,
Jay didn't raise them.
He bought them then went
to Cal las trfiile they
were canning them.
Ruth and Ouida spent
most of this week in
their yard pulling and
noeing. Getting it ready
for the mewer.
C.R. and Oleta were here
last week. Cleaned the
,«oid good. Now the bahia
grass needs baling. They
can't win for losing.
Mrs. Me. got back from
the convention in Wash-
ington, O.C. She was at
church this morning as
chipper as ever. Been
having a little trouble
with her eye, but is
better.
Ojr good little neigh-
bor, Jason Pate, brought
us a sack of tomatoes
this «eek. He is a good
youngin. Grannie Windham
thinks so. I do threaten
him and Clint with a
"tending to* sometimes.
They don't hear.
go across Attoyac. Been
flood water from hill to
hill for two weeks.
Senie Brown was ok when
I talked to her this ev-
ening. She had Bernice
Towns, Avis Womack, Ruth
Holliste and Sid from
Tenaha, Snooks McNair
from Shelbyville. Has
happy to have them.
Things do happen. When
Edward and Ruth Beal li-
ved in Texas City, they
had some good neighbors.
After they moved here,
to their surprise, Mr.
and Mrs. Adolph kivch
bought out Taylor Hard-
ware and moved to Timp-
son, also, they visited
tbe Beals this evening
and brought his mother
out to see them. They
seem like such nice peo-
ple, friendly. Now all
are in the same little
town again.
The Magnesses have had
Janell since Friday. All
went to Freddie's and
Ann's for a birthday
party Saturday night.
This weekend they had
Janell and girls, Linda
and Debra, also Freddie
and family, Kristi, Ka-
thy and Charles. All
helped Fred vaccinate
calves. That is a job
and an awful hot one.
Don't forget our revival
starts June 29th and
goes through July 2nd.
Come and be with us.
you next week.

Old Remedies
by Neuville Bogard
Seems like the diseases
and aiiments that used
to bother people have
made a cnange and like
other things that no
longer exist.
Years ago it was a com-
mon thing to have what
we called a seed wart,
this was very popular or
regular among the chil-
dren and it was believed
it came about from play-
ing with toad frogs.
The cure or only way we
knew to get rid of this
wart was to find some
old timer that knew the
magic words and was gif-
ted by the ability to
rub this wart and cause
it to go away. I took
this treatment several
times in my growing up
as we were blessed with
a lot of toad frogs.
I don't believe I have
seen a wart or toad frog
in many years so, I
guess or hope the wart
is gone for good, but 1
sure don't want to lose
the frogs as they always
told us when it was go-
ing to rain.
My mother was a good
doctor and had a lot of
remedies she used in
keeping her seven kids,
alive, but I believe the
Calimal tablets and Cas-
tor Oil treatment was
her favorite.
I bet this treatment
would kill one of these
modern kids. Don't you?
For more old remedies
that you won't find in
the doctor's office, I
refer you to my good
neighbor, Joe Crocker,
at his barber shop. Joe
grew up the hard way so
he had to have the chea-
pest way out.
