Christian Science Chnrehes
“Probation after Death” is
the subject of the lesson-ser-
mon which will be read in all
Churches of Christ, Scientist,
on Sunday, October 22.
Among the citations which
comprise the lesson-sermon is
the following from the Bible:
“O house of Jacob, come ye
and let us walk in the light of
the Lord. . . . Fot the day of
the Lord of hosts shall be up-
on every one that is proud and
lofty, and upon every one that
is lifted np: and he shall be
brought low:. . . and the lofti-
ness of man shall be bowed
down, and the haughtiness of
men shall be made low: and
the Lord shall be exalted in.
that day” (Isiah 2:5, 12, 17)
The lesson-sermon also in-
cludes the following passage
from the Christian Science
textbook. “Science and Health
with Key to the Scriptures" by
Mary Baker Eddy: “Joh said:
1 have heard of Thee by the
hearing of the ear: but now
my eye seetfa Thee.’ Mortals
will echo Job’s thought, when
the supposed pain and pleasure
of matter cease to predomi-
aate. They will drop the false
estimate of life and happiness,
of joy and sorrow, and attain
the bliss of loving unselfishly,
working patiently, and con-
quering all that is unlike God”
(page 262).

NOTICE
It has come to the attention
of the city light and water de-
partment that some ten or
twelve light or water meters
have been or are now being
tampered with and power or
water used without pay or con-
sent of the city. There is a
very rigid law in regard to
diverting from meters, and the
law will be enforced and
penalty invoked if this warn-
ing is'not observed. Art. 1056
fully covers this matter.
