from Houston where they at-
tended a district meeting of
Ford dealers and salesmen.
Prof. J. B. Hammer spent a
short while in town this morn-
ing. He reports that his school
in the Day community, four
miles sooth of Paxton, opened
Monday morning with a good
enrollment. Other teachers in
the school are: Mn. Hammer
and Mrs, Ora Pigg.

There will be a cream sup-
per at Mr. Woody Nelson's
Saturday night, Sept 23. The
proceeds will go for the bene-
fit of Beuna Vista cbnrch. The

to the bedside of Mr. Nance’s
brother, J. B. Nance.

spent a few hours with his
wife Sunday.
Johnnie Nance is on the sick
list at this writing.
Mr. and Mrs. George Hall
of Center spent the week-end
with Mr. Hall’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John Grissom.

heep of the cemetery at Old
Shady Grove are requested to
meet at the cemetery Friday
morning. Sept. 29th, at which
time we want to dean off the
grounds and do other needed

OAK GROVE
Oak Grove, Sept. 1.9—Mr.
J. B. Nance, well known citi-
zen of this community, passed
away last Thursday morning.
Sept. 14, after a long illness
He was 72 years of age. His
remains were laid to rest in the
Caledonia cemetery, Bru. E. V.
Tunnell conducting the funeral
services.
Mr. Nance is survived by
seven children, a brother and
one sister. Children: Johnnie
Nance, Mrs. Erwin Smith and
Mrs. E. W. Fountain of this
community; Tom Nance at El
Dorado, Ark.; Mrs. Lacy For-
School
