* State Representative Sid
Miller (R-Stephenville) has
•finounced that the Office of
Rural Community Affairs,
(ORCA) has awarded District
59 several grants totaling
$1,250,000. ORCA works to
assist rural Texans who seek to
enhance their quality of life by
facilitating the use of state
resources so that sustained
economic growth will enrich
the rural Texas experience for
the benefit of all.
These awards encompass
grants from the Community
Development Block Grant
Program of the U.S.
Department of Housing and
Urban Development, and
address sewage needs and
water supply and storage
demands. The cities of Dublin,
Evant, Gustine, Hamilton, and
Hico all received these grants
for $250,000 each, designated
for improvements in these
areas.
With the awards ORCA
granted, Dublin will have funds
for many needed services.
These community development
grants allow funds for water
systems, storage, and drainage
improvements. This grant will
also help implement a new
250,000 gallon elevated water
storage tank, a much needed
improvement for Dublin
citizens. This award will be
awarded by ORCA on October
27th at the North Central Texas
Council of Governments.
