Robert and Diana Reed are proud to announce the engagement of their
daughter, Meghan Renee Reed of Dublin, to Jarrad Brandon Burcie of
Haltom City. He is the son of Frank and Bonnie Burcie, Jr. of Arlington.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Frank and Wanda Derby of San
Angelo and Don and Ann Reed of Rogers, Arkansas and Houston and
Rosalee Wood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is currently a senior at
Tarleton State University, majoring in nursing and is employed at Payless
Shoe Source.
The prospective bridegroom is the grandson of Frank and Sandra
Burcie, Sr. of Fort Worth and Bonnie and Glen Johnson of Springtown.
He is currently a senior at Tarleton State University majoring in marketing
and is employed by the Texas Rangers.
A wedding is planned for December 31,2005, in Granbury.
Police Log
There have been a number of
truancy reports this week, with a
few of those resulting in citations.
There were also a few more arrests
than usual.
On Oct. 12 at 8:09 p.m., the fire
department and EMS were sent to
a car accident in front of Woody's
on Hwy. 377.
There was a call about a
peeping Tom in the 400 block of
Grady St. at 8:11 p.m. No one was
found, but the area has been put on
close patrol.
At 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 11, police
investigated a possible burglary in
the 200 block of Hurt St„ but the
burglar turned out be a loud cat in
the garage.
At 10:30 a.m., police wrote a
truancy ticket to a student, age 13,
at the Middle School.
At noon on the 12th, there was a
verbal domestic dispute in the 500
block of Hemphill. No arrests
were made in the verbal dispute.
At 12:30 p.m. in the 500 block
of Hemphill, Roy George
McCormick, 37, was arrested for
three city warrants and one county
warrant.
On Oct. 13, officers took a theft
report on the 400 block of W.
Liveoak at 1:45 p.m. The item
stolen was a cat. It was located, but
not yet returned due to the
possibility of the theft being a civil
matter.
A skunk was shot in the 300
block of N. Grafton at 12 p.m.
There were possible shots fired
from a pickup driving down Hwy.
6 at 7:12 p.m. on the 13th, but the
vehicle was not located.
Officers took truancy reports at
the Middle School for two
students. Officers then spoke with
the parents.
There was a theft reported at
2:40 p.m. on the 14th in the 200
block of W. Liveoak. Jewelry was
stolen.
On Oct. 15, there was a fight in
the 400 block of Edward Dr. No
arrests were made.
On Oct. 16, police responded to
a car accident on CR 303 at 12:13
a.m. They responded to another
car accident on Hwy. 6 E. at 2:45
a.m. No injuries were reported for
either accident.
On Oct. 17, officers issued two
truancy citations to students at the
Middle School at 10 a.m.
Officers assisted Comanche
police in locating an 18-wheeler
that had hit an overpass and didn’t
know it. The driver was located at
3:45 p.m. and returned to
Comanche.
At 8:15 on the 17th, B.J William
Hines, 17, was arrested on four city
warrants on Camden St.
There was another arrest on Oct.
18 at 6:30 a.m. in the 700 block of
W. Patrick. Robert Me Intire was
arrested on warrants from Walker
and Denton Counties.
In state sales tax income for
September, the state took in
$1.33 billion dollars, an increase
of 14.2 percent since September
of 2004.
$363.5 million in monthly
sales tax payments went to Texas
cities, counties, transit systems
and special purpose districts,
which is also up for an 11.3
percent increase compared to
October 2004. So far this year,
local sales tax allocations are up
7.8 percent ahead of last year.
September sales tax
collections and October
allocations represent sales that
occurred in August. Because
Hurricane Katrina struck August
29 and Hurricane Rita struck on
September 24, these figures do
not, reflect the impact of the
storms.
Locally sales tax figures are
anywhere from a 20.20 percent
increase to a 10.04 percent
decease.
Dublin had the highest growth
rate of the area, with a growth of
20.26 percent. Hamilton came in
a close second at 15.47 percent.
Hico and Comanche stayed close
to last year with a 1.14 and 0.41
percent increase, respectively.
