In memory of
Leona Payne
A friend loveth at ^11 times
and a brother is bom for adver-
sity. Proverbs 17:17
I remember Leona as she
went into the homes of those
who had lost a loved one. We
knew she would be there and
she was!
She had the gift of cooking
and she shared that gift for
many church dinners for funer-
als throughout this area. She
was a member of the Ruth class
and faithful until the end.
She set an example for us and
the whole church by being there
even when her strength was
very low.
She was a woman of courage
and we loved her.
A friend loveth at ail times,
she didn't wait for us to say the
first word, but she reached out
to us to ask us how we Were and
she cared about people. Only
God can teach someone how to
love and help people in such a
Chapel, with Rev. Jphn ,Jgponw. tender way and she had JTinrjp
officiating. She was interred at '- her heart and life.,- a

Uncle J.D. as her children
fondly call him came into
Leona’s life and became a lov-
ing husband and a father to her
children. He is special to her
family. When she could no
longer work in her garden, he
worked faithfully there that she
might have vegetables to share
with their many friends.
Yes Leona has lived a very
plain, loving, simple life, help-
ing and serving others. She has
truly finished her course and
kept the faith.

The "special" radios can be
purchased at electronic supply
stores and some larger discount
commercial power goes out, and
we recommend a receiver, the
SAME (Specific Area Message
Encoding) capability," Woddall
said.
When a watch or warning is
issued for counties within a cer-
tain broadcast area, special
codes are also transmitted along
with the watch or warning to
activate alarms on the weather
radio receivers.
According to Woodall, the
receivers can usually be set on
"stand-by" mode, much like a
smoke detector. When severe
weather hits, special codes will
then turn on the receiver so that
the listeners can hear the haz-
ardous weather information.
With the SAME technology,
listeners can then program
which counties they want the
watches or warnings to activate
for.
VBS is for children 4 years
old through the sixth grade.
The theme for this years VBS
is “The Great Kingdon Caper-
cracking the code.”

Reunion-time always brings
many old friends and families
together again "back in Dublin."
It is quite possible that this year
at the High School, one could
not walk five feet without bump-
ing into someone related to the
Gilbreath/Looney/Wiggins fam-
ily. What a photograph that
would have made if all had gath-
ered around Irene "Sis" Wiggins
of Irving and her kin. At 96, she
likely was the oldest in atten-
dance this year.
The history books tell of
"Coxey’s army" and its march on
Washington back in 1894, but
the Cox’s "army" of five broth-
ers who attended the Dublin
Reunion last week-end were
surely much better received and
a much happier bunch of guys!
All named COX, there were
H.B. of Houston, Pat of Fort
Worth, Doug of Granbury, Jeff
of Port Neches, and Wallace of
Hobbs, N. M. In the 18 years of
the reunion, this may have been
the first time five brothers were
present at once.
