The Dublin Citizen
Sec. A, Page 3
Letter! to the Editor
Late last Sunday night
(3/23/03) my husband & I
passed through your city, stop-
ping for gas at Stoney's 1 Stop at
505 East Blackjack. We were
impressed with its appearance &
the friendliness of its employ-
ees.
One & a half hours later, as
we neared our home in Waco, 1
discovered 1 had left my purse
in the restroom at Stoney's.
Frantically we got the phone
number & caught Dee, the man-
ager, as she was closing for the
night. She informed me she had
already left a message on our
home phone letting me know
my purse had been brought to
her by two young girls & was
safely locked in her office. She
even offered to take the purse to
the Dublin police station if 1
wanted to return for it that night.
I drove back to Dublin on
Monday & retreived my purse,
finding everything intact,
including credit cards, cash, &
checkbook.
I wish I could personally
thank the two little girls who
turned in my purse without
bothering anything in it, but 1 do
not have their names. I under-

stand they were quite young, &
they & their parents are to be
commended for such responsi-
ble behavior.
I want to publically thank
Dee. I really appreciate her hon-
esty & for going the extra mile
by phoning to ease my mind,
offering to take my purse to the
police station, & keeping it safe
till 1 returned for it.
1 salute Dee, her employees,
& the little girls & their parents
as fine representatives of Dublin
for the good citizenship they
exemplified.
After visiting America in the
early 19th century, historian
Alexis de Tocqueville said,
"America is great because
America is good. If America
ever ceases to be good, it will
cease to be great." Folks like
these in Dublin ensure the con-
tinued greatness of our country.
I am thankful for them.
My husband & I travel
Highway 6 often. We had never
stopped in Dublin before, but
we definitely will again in the
future.
With sincere thanks & appre-
ciation,
Don & Orinea Petty

I received this today from my
sister. It really touched me, and
actually I cried a little! As you
well know, we have many loved
ones from Dublin fighting right
now or who are on their way. I
thought this would be a wonder-
ful piece to put in the paper, but
of course it’s up to your discre-
tion.
Thank you,
Sarah Johnson

The only place I'll see his

He will be gone too many

I may be sad, but I am proud.
My daddy’s got your back.
I am a caring mother. My

ties that I have never known
before.
Everyday I try to keep my
thoughts from turning black.
I may be scared, but I am
proud. My son has got your
back.
I am a strong and loving wife,
with a husband soon to go.
Sometimes I'm terrified in a
way most never know.
I bite my lip and force a smile
as I watch my husband pack.
My heart may break, but I am
proud. My husband's got your
back.
1 am a soldier...serving
proudly, standing tall.
I fight for freedom, yours and
mine, by answering this call.
I do my job while knowing
that the "Thanks," it sometimes
lacks.
Say a prayer that I’ll come
back...It's me who's got your
back.
