They had skits that had
the audience clapping,
standing and even dancing
in the aisles.

There was* extensive
discussion over budget
amendments in the amount
of $65,300 to revive the
elementary cafeteria,
$40,000 for professional
development and $143,000
for career and technology
funds.
The board set the date for
the annual election for
Saturday, May 12 to elect
three board members to
3-year terms, those offices
now held by Sammy Moore,
Garron House and Lathes
Towns. Moore and House
have both said they will not
seek re-election. Three
others, Travis Barnes, Carol
Bagley and Paulette Cox,
have filed to seek aplace on
the ballot.
In the monthly finance
report, Supt. Dr. Rodney
Schneider, in his first board
meeting as superintendent,
reported that 83% of taxes
have been paid and the
school has spent less than
budgeted thus far. The
school enrollment is 1,257
which is 7 less than last
month but more than was
budgeted for. He noted that
higher enrollment and mild
winter cutting down on
energy costs has helped save
the school finances.
The board approved
renewing the contract with
James E. Rodgers and
Company, PC, as school
auditors for $18,500 - $500
more than last year.
The board approved
spending up to $25,000 to
implement Rachel’s
Challengeafterapresentation
by GT Teacher Terri White. It
is hoped contributions will
offset some of the costs for
the program which has, as
its mission statement, “We
exist to inspire, equip said
empower every person to
crate a permanent positive
cultural change in their
school and community by
