Good morning! This is
the day the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad
in it.
Sorry I missed our visit
last week. The past three
weeks have been packed,
but I think Gene and I are
actually going to be home
for a month or so.
We had three of our ma-
jor appearances with the
Shreveport Band; the patri-
otic concert at Broadmoor
Methodist Church, the con-
cert at Barksdale AFB and
our annual appearance at
Jefferson, TX for their July
4th celebration. Then Gene
and I played at Westward
Trails Nursing Center in
Nacogdoches and our DRT
Once on a very cold
winter day, a man made a
visit to Niagara Falls. He
was amazed at the beauti-
ful scenery of water, ice,
snow and trees. As he was
taking in all the beauty of
the falls and surrounding
area, he noticed some
birds diving down, skim-
ming the water drinking
from the river. The birds
would fly up from the river
through the mist caused by
the rushing water over the
falls. The mist was collect-
ing and freezing allover
the birds. After only a few
dips and passing through
the mist, the ice became so
heavy the birds plunged to
their deaths in the falls
below.
From the very begin-
ning, mankind has had a
problem with sin. There is
non righteous (Rom. 3:10).
We all have sinned and
chapter had a booth at the
What-a-melon Festival
last weekend. And we had
three doctors’ appoint-
ments in Shreveport. Now
I have to do all the stuff I
didn’t get done while we
were running around.
As I mentioned, our
William Carroll Crawford
Chapter had a booth at the
What-a-melon Festival.
Although we had a few
Texas related sales items,
we mostly were there to
share information on DRT
membership, our local
chapter and to show off our
“First Ladies in Texas ”
building and the begin-
nings of our Wall of Honor.
As a fund raiser, we are
fallen away from God
(Rom.3:23). All who pro-
fess not to sin only de-
ceive themselves (1
Jn.l:7-10). Sin is disobe-
dience to God. It is a vio-
lation of God’s will.
When ones does what
God has forbidden, it is
a sin. For example, God
has forbidden lying,
stealing, murder, fornica-
tion, and etc. All who en-
gage in these acts com-
mit sin. All who know
what is good but will not
do it, that individual sins
(Jas.4:17). God’s distaste
toward man’s wickedness
brought on the destruc-
tion of the world with
water (Gen. 6). The same
happened to the Pharaoh
of Egypt and his army in
the Red Sea (Ex. 14). Be-
cause of their wickedness
sins, Sodom and
Gomorrah were de-
encouraging people to buy
a space and furnish a pic-
ture of their female ances-
tors, any woman in Texas
before 1900. We have forty
pictures now, some made as
early as the mid 1800s,
some seventy or more years
later, all faces of our grand-
mothers. Some of the pic-
tures are copies of formal
studio portraits, some were
extracted from scenes of
family gatherings, some
were copied from tin types,
but they all are of strong
proud women who created
a life under much less than
easy circumstances. Some
look tired, some look
happy, some look defiant,
some look satisfied but they
stroyed when it rained fire
and brimstone from
heaven (Gen. 19). Nedab
andAbihu, sons of Aaron,
were devoured by fire
from heaven for changing
the alter fire (Lev.l0:l-3).
Korah, Dathan, and
Abiram were destroyed
for rebellion (Num.16).
Ananias and Sapphira
were destroyed for lying,
hypocrisy, and greed (Acts
5). Though God is merci-
ful to those who turn from
sin and obey his will, those
who disobey him and per-
sist in evil doing and wick-
edness will receive for a
reward, the wrath of God.
God has given mankind
the only remedy for sin.
He has given every human
being a chance to be to-
tally free from Satan and
sin. God’s Son, the perfect
Lamb, gave his life’s
blood as a libation for sin
all are our ancestors. Our
grandmothers. We will be
printing biographies of these
ladies to put in an album to
share with others and we
plan to have the building
open on a regular basis to
introduce these special
women. I believe we’ll have
room for about one hundred,
so we’ll all be meeting more
of the women who helped
shape our lives and made us
who we are. Try to stay out
of the heat and read a good
book or visit with a friend
or just enjoy a tall glass of
iced tea and think cool
thoughts. Until next week,
this is Maggie, wishing you
starry nights, hummingbird
days and lots of hugs.
so mankind can be recon-
ciled to God. He invites
ALL to come (Matt. 11:28-
29). All who continue to
DIP IN THE CESSPOOL
OF SIN AN INIQUITY
will one day pay an awful
price.
The birds that died get-
ting water did not have the
intelligence to know they
were in danger, for if they
had, they could have moved
up the river and drank
safely. God gave man intel-
ligence and the freedom of
choice. If men and women
do not use their intelligence
to save themselves from
SIN, SATAN, AND,
HELL, FIRE, they are no
different than the birds, es-
pecially is this tme of those
who had rather go to HELL
FIRE than OBEY THE
LORD. Friend, are you
smarter than those birds of
Niagara Falls?
