GA RRISON...congratiilations
to Mr. & Mrs. Bruce
Harper of Garrison on the
birth of a baby girl born April
20 at 3:44 p.m. weighing 7 lbs.,
14 oz. Her name is Kay’La
Denyce Harper.
OFFICE...We were vis-
ited by newborn Colton
Blake Gutermuth Monday
afternoon. He was only 11
days old, and a little darling.
He grinned for us a few times,
and slept mostly, like all babies
do. Congratulations to his par-
ents, Steven and Stephanie!
OFFICE...Doug and I
are back from our visit to the
hospital. He had to go in for a
few days, but now we’re back
at work. Nancy and Liz kept
things running after the press
broke down Wednesday and
the papers printed late. Thanks
to Liz’s mom, Sara, for pick-
ing up the papers and helping
stuff them Wednesday night.
They worked so hard to keep
things going while we had an
emergency.
TIMPSON...Kimber
was gone Wednesday after-
noon and couldn’t help be-
cause she was being inducted
into a business honor society
at SFA. More on that to come.
She also said she received an
accounting scholarship Thurs-
day night at the SFA account-
ing department banquet. While
there, she saw Marion and
Beth Shepherd, who were
there to present a scholarship
given in endowed in his honor.
He was the first person to
graduate SFA with an ac-
counting degree. She said it
was nice to see familiar faces
in Nacogdoches.
Shreveport...while in the
hospital again last week, I was
treated to lunch by a nice
gentleman and old friend, Eb
Figley. His wife, Rece, is
having therapy following a
stroke and is doing really
well. Also, Albert Burns was
visiting the Figleys and came
by to visit Doug. Nancy and
friend, Patsy Blissett and
several others were in to see
us. Had lots of calls which we
appreciate. A hospital room
can be a lonely place.Thanks
everyone.
OFFICE...The office has
been a busy place this week.
We’ve had visits from a John
D. Rockefeller, oil tycoon
employee and the ever fa-
mous Spiderman, who will be
in Wal-Mart next week and
can be seen at a theater near
you. Look for his picture in the
T&T News next week! Also,
Roy & Maxine Dent were
in. They showed a picture and
write-up in the Lexington
Herald of their son-in-law,
Mike Clark, who is co-
founder and chief executive
of Phoenix Pharmacologies.
They were given the green
light to begin dosing more than
100 liver cancer patients with
Hepacid, anti-cancer therapy
he helped develop in labs at
the University of Kentucky.
Mike says he plans to rescue
at least a few from death. His
tiny 10-employee Lexington
Company is so small it isn’t
listed in the phone book, but is
developing four such therapies
with the potential to save thou-
sands of live and produce bil-
lions of dollars in revenue an-
nually. Clark’s wife, DeAnn,
is the daughter of Maxine and
Roy Dent. Troy and Roy
Dent are former Timpsonites.
We wish Mike well in his en-
deavors and will keep him in
our prayers.
TIMPSON...enjoyed a
box of glazed donuts from the
newly opened Daybreak Do-
nut Shop. Iris Bailey was
in to present them and they
were big and delicious. Didn’t
last long!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
TO ME...yep, another year
rolled by and I am 39 again
as of last Saturday! It isn’t
easy to keep being younger
than your daughter. There is
but one other lady I know who
is also younger than her
daughter and that’s Jo Ann
Burrows. Hang in there, girl.
It really isn’t anyone’s busi-
ness as to our age. My mom
always said that a woman
who’d tell her age would tell
anything! Mercy!
TIMPSON...Judge
Reba Anderson was under
the weather last week, but is
better today. Also, our friend,
Gail Hairgrove is home fol-
lowing surgery.
BREAK-INS...City
Marshal Fred Walker is
busy investigating several
break-in around town lately.
The Dollar Store and Hutto’s
are among several. He has
some suspects and is looking
at fingerprints.
AREA...Lots of days to

rial Day.

mately five miles north of
Pittsburg on the west side of

cepted placement of the first

foods products awaiting ship-
ment to customers. The
completion of the distribution
center will allow Pilgrim’s
Pride to consolidate many of
these products into this single,
30 million pound capacity
freezer.
“The Pilgrim’s Pride food
distribution center is currently
the largest in the poultry in-
dustry and one of the most
advanced in the world,” said
O.B. Goolsby, executive vice
president of the company’s
Prepared Foods Division.
Products produced in the
company’s facilities in Mount
Pleasant, Dallas, Waco and
Nacogdoches, Texas and in
DeQueen, Arkansas will
compose the majority of the
products stored at this distri-
bution center and will be
transported daily into and out
of the freezer by refrigerated
trucks.
When a pallet is unloaded
off an incoming truck, it is
mated with two RFID (Radio
Frequency Identification) mi-
crochips and put onto an au-
tomated conveyor system.
Ideally, this will be the last time
the product is handled by a
human being. From that point
on, the automated conveyors,
the AS/RS (Automatic Stor-
age Retrieval Systems) and
the WMS (Warehouse Man-
agement System) will control
all the movements of the prod-
ucts and will handle the track-
ing and movement of the prod-
uct in accordance with an im-
portant inventory rotation con-
trol called FIFO (First In, First
Out).
Brown reports that the
WMS and YMS (Yard Man-
agement System) of the new
facility have been programmed
to accommodate a GPS (Glo-
bal Positioning System) system
that Pilgrim’s is currently test-
ing on its refrigerated fleet that
will enable Pilgrim’s Pride to
track via satellites all ship-
ments leaving the facility.
Just Curious
Things you can live without knowing if you have to...
Why do folks use the
phrase, “upset his apple cart”
to mean some kind of disas-
ter? And why is apple cider
called “applejack?” What kind
of order is “apple pie” order?
***
How did the flower known
as “Bachelor’s Button” get
that name? Is there one called
“Old Maid’s Button?” Who
started that? How can a fe-
male obtain a Bachelor’s De-
gree?”
How do you “bandy
words” when having an argu-
ment? What is “bandy?”
Exactly what is a “band-
box” that nicely dressed folks
look like they just stepped out
of?
What kind of “bush” do
some folks “beat around”
when trying to avoid some-
thing?
Ever had a “fair weather”
friend?” How’d he act when
it rained?
Ever been told to “fork it
over” when having to pay?
Did you use your hands or a
piece of silverware?
