OUR SICK—Marion
(Shep) Shepherd was in
the hospital suffering from
a broken hip. Doctors re-
placed a ball in the hip j oint.
The doctor said that if he
had to break a hip this was
the best that could happen
as it would be the quickest
to heal. At any rate, Shep,
have a swift and complete
recovery.
BIRTHDAY—Well,
another birthday has come
and gone and folks have
wished me a great day,
sent cards, even got a
beautiful birthday bouquet
in a bag! and some sang
the song to me.
...and Nancy had a sur-
prise birthday party for me
ready when I got home
from work! It was a real
surprise and after I almost
fainted, family members
started coming in bringing
things ... food, a huge
birthday cake with my
name on it, gifts and flow-
ers! One of the attendees
even began to take his belt
off to give me birthday licks
and I almost fainted again.
But it was fun! And I am
looking forward to the next
one.
SYMPATHY —our
deepest goes to those who
lost loved ones this past
week. You are on our
prayer list.
REMEMBER— to vote
for your favorite candidate
for the councils and ISD
boards in Timpson &
Tenaha. Vote early and
vote often.

Things you can live without knowing if you have to.
Springtime in East Texas
is a beautiful time of the
year. The gardens are be-
ginning to grow. The flow-
ers are blooming, the trees
are leafing out and it is just
a good time to be alive and
enjoy all the great creation
that God has given us to
enjoy.
Bro. Tom brought a
great message about salva-
tion in the Sunday morn-
ing worship service. The
children sang and did great.
We finished studying the
book of Nehemiah in Sun-
day school and will begin
the book of Esther. I love
to study that book. Israel’s
history is so interesting.
Lemerle Whitehead was
able to be in worship ser-
vice. It is always good to
see these who have not
been able to attend. Candy,
Fonda, Debra and I had a
garage sale and met lots of
nice people - didn’t get rich
but got rid of a lot of stuff.
B.J. and Ada Easley had
their children visiting this
weekend. Ada had a honey-
do jar and they did a lot of
things for her and B.J. Sure
is nice to have the kids
come home and help out.
Keep Ada and B.J. in your
prayers. Jackie Ramsey
said she visited with her
great-grand children, the
triplets, at Jaqueline’s
house. They are living with
J.W. and Jaqueline now
until their dad comes home
from Iraq. I hope and pray
our troops get to come
home soon. Jackie has lots
of beautiful great-grand-
children. We get to enjoy
nine of them in our church
family and soon to be ten,
when Katie and Justin have
their new baby in August.
Fonda came and cleaned
house for me today. She so
fast and strong, I can’t
keep up with her and she
has been a great blessing
to me since I have gotten
older. Candy has had Jacey
this weekend and they
have been playing baseball.
Jacey made a homerun in
one of their games They
won both games that were
playing this weekend.
Becky is coming home for
a visit this week. She can’t
stay away too long. She is
doing well health wise.
Summer Ramsey told us
the prepartion for VBS is
coming along great. All the
teachers are making plans
and hope to have a won-
derful school and learn lots
about God and His work
for us. It will be July 13-
18. Mt. Bethel MBC is in
revival this week, Bro.
Darryl Owens is the evan-
gelist. Meeting at 7 p.m.
each nite. My niece, Dedra
Edwards and he friend
came over and I gave them
some of my baby gladiolas
that are blooming in my
yard. Virgil’s Aunt Frances
put these out around the old
Wedgeworth house many
years ago and they have
really spread. I’ve given
lots of them away and they
just keep coming back
each year. Also gave some
them a cutting off my
Confederate Rose that
Margaret Oliver gave to me
several years ago. It is so
pretty. It is a great joy to
share flowers with others,
especially young women.
This week try to share
a smile, a hug or whatever
you can with someone.
It will really bless your
life.

Timpson ISD Board of Trustees
I have a goal, and that goal is to help our children have all the best
available technology to help stimulate academic growth. As a former
board member, I am keenly aware of the responsibilty and trust
you place on each of us to keep the District in a sound financial
condition. I will make every effort toward keeping the Students

From the desk of Mary
Lynn Tinkle:
This week our “SU-
PER”
star is
not a
person
but a
pro-
gram.
For the
past sev-
e r a 1
years the
elementary school under
the leadership of principal
Betty Ivins has sponsored
a program designed by the
ESL (English as a Second
Language) classes to high-
light the cultural diversity
of our district. It is surpris-
ing that we have people
from all over the world liv-
ing and working right here
in the Timpson area.
The program centers
around people from differ-
ent cultures sharing some
of their life stories, photos,
favorite memories, and
food. In the past we have
had students and adults
from Japan, China, Ireland,
Mexico, Africa, Ecuador,
Columbia, and Brazil, as
well as Native Americans
to share in the program.
The crowd favorite has al-
ways been the food. We
have samples of the foods
that are enjoyed by the
people of the cultures rep-
resented by the program.
This year our program
theme will be “CINCO DE
MAYO” because the date
for the program is May 5
which is the translation of
cinco de Mayo. Our high
school Spanish Club will
have a big part in the pro-
gram in presenting the
meaning and importance
of cinco de Mayo in the
Mexican culture.
There will be other pre-
senters from other cul-
tures, but I’m sure that
once again the highlight of
the evening will be the food.
This is a great time and
a great way to promote our
district. TISD is interested
in the educating of all the
children and adults in our
district.
This is another way of
sharing our facilities, our
human resources, and our
culture diversity with all
the families in our district.
This program will be from
5:30 to 7:00 PM, May 5,
2009.
Let me encourage ev-
eryone to attend this pro-
gram and learn more about
our TISD family.
Money talks!
Let us tell
yours what to
say.
Come in
and let us
help you plan
for the future
or with
present needs.
