Bible Notes
By Mark Sloan, Minister, Carthage Church of Christ
“A Call for The King’s
Best Men”
To win the victory over our
infamous enemy, the King calls
for volunteers. The recruits
must be of a rare breed, as
outlined in the study below.
They must be absolutely loyal
to King Immanuel. Their will
must be surrendered totally to
his: they must become His
“bondservants.” (Romans 1:1)
1. They must pledge their
unswerving commitment to
His ideology. The words of
Jesus are the only power to
save (Romans 1:16). He alone
(Jesus) has the answers to the
world’s needs. (John 6:68).
2. They must be willing to
undertake the rigors of train-
ing in the camp of the kingdom
under the guidance of veteran
warriors. (2 Tim. 2:2; Matt.
28:19-20)
3. They must be willing to
deny themselves (Matt.
16:24), and dedicate their lives
wholly to this “Holy War”, not
becoming entangled in the af-
fairs of this world (2 Tim. 1:3-
5)
4. These people (men and
women) cannot be mercenar-
ies. They must be personally
committed to the cause. (2
Tim. 6:5)
5. All recruits must be pre-
pared to accept front line duty.
No soft, behind the lines, posts
are available. Literally, thou-
sands of beachhead invasions
must be mounted (Rom. 15:20)
6. Volunteers must be ready
to spend and be spent for the
King and His Kingdom. (2 Cor.
12:15)
7. They must be willing to
die at their post of duty if called
upon to do so. (2 Tim. 4:6-7)
8. Duty
assign-
ments may
be any-
where in
the habit-
able world.
Only those
who are
committed
to this world-wide mission are
acceptable .(Rom 1:14-15)
With these qualifications in
mind, we need to know that
these men and women are
also expected to:
1. Be Bible believing,
Bible respecting men and
women.
2. They must be Bible
knowing, Bible preaching and
teaching men and women.
3. They must be set for
the defense of the Gospel.
(Phil. 1:16)
4. They must be men and
women who will never think
of abandoning their posts.
5. They must preach and
tech with power, but be will-
ing to go out to the highways
and byways to bring in the lost
by twos and threes.
6. They must be people
whose goals are more than a
comfortable pulpit behind the
lines.
7. They must be people of
courage and zeal who will
challenge the devil in his own
lair and set the captives free.
Now anyone who feels
they can meet these high re-
quirements and challenges are
encouraged to enlist today.
There is not time to waste, the
battle is raging throughout the
earth. King Jesus needs you
now!
God Bless.

You know it is going to
be a bad day when, before
you open your eyes in the
morning, you feel every stu-
pid thing you have ever
done sitting around in your
Mind and staring you right
in the face.

What will you be doing
when Jesus returns? Are you
teaching all nations about him,
baptizing them in the name of
he Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Ghost? Are you
casting out devils and speak-
ing in new tongues? Are you
laying hands on the sick and
are they recovering? Statistics
says whatever you are doing
now is probably what you will
be doing when Jesus returns.
Jesus says, “If you love me,
you will keep my command-
ments.” Are you keeping his
commandments” (John 14:
15).
Christians should keep the
commandments of Jesus.
They should also do what
Jesus tells them to do . If a
Christian is being obedient to
God’s Word, he can be sure
that will go back with Jesus
when he comes. If a Chris-
tian is not being obedient to the
sayings of God, he may be left
behind to endure the years of
tribulation. Will you be going
with Jesus or will you be left
Teachings from the Bible
Minister Dwayne Sowell 936-569-9840
Worldliness
Prov.. 15: 21 “Folly is joy to
him that is destitute of wisdom.:
but a man of wisdom walketh
uprightly.”
Prov. 21: 17 “He that loveth
pleasure shall be a poor man: he
that loveth wine and oil shall not
be rich.”
Rom. 12: 12 “And be not con-
formed to this world; BE YE
TRANSFORMED by the renew-
ing of your mind that ye may
prove what is that good and ac-
ceptable and perfect will of God.
, I John 2: 15-17 “Love not
the world, neither the things that
are in the world. If any man love
the world , the love of the Fa-
ther is not in him. For all that is
in the world, the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes, and the
pride of life is not of the Father,
but is of the world. And the
world passeth away and the lust
thereof, but he that doeth the
will of God abideth forever.”
The ten commandments re-
corded in Deut. 5: 7-21 covers
worldliness, but let us look in
the New Testament, the perfect
law of liberty for defining world-
liness.
Rom. 1: 22-25 “ Professing
themselves to be wise, they be-
came fools and changed the
glory of the incorruptible God
into an image made like to cor-
ruptible man, and to birds and
four-footed beasts and creeping
things. Therefor e God gave
them up to uncleanness through
the lust of their own hearts, to
dishonor their bodies between
themselves. Who changed the
truth of God into a lie and wor-
shipped and served the creature
ore than the creator who is
blessed forever. Amen” Rom. 1:
28-32. And even as they did not
like to retain God in knowledge,
God gave them over to a repro-
bate mind, to do those things
which are not convenient, being
filled with all unrighteousness,
fornication, wickedness, covet-
ousness, maliciousness, full of
envy, murder, debate, deceit, ma-
lignity whisperers, backbiters,
haters of God, despiteful, cov-
enant breakers, without natural
affection, implacable unmerciful:
who knowing the judgement of
God, that they which commit
such things are worthy of death,
not only do the same, but have
pleasure in them that do.”
Col. 3:5“ Mortify therefore
your members which are upon the
earth; fornication, uncleaness,
inordinate affection, evil
concupiscence and covetous-
ness which is idolatry”
1 Tim. 5: 6 “But she that liveth
in pleasure is dead while she
liveth.”
2 Tim. 2:4-7 “For men shall be
lovers of their own selves, cov-
etous boasters, proud, blas-
phemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy, without
natural affection, trucebreakers,
false accusers, incontinent,
fierce, despisers of those that are
good, traitors, heady, high
minded, lovers of pleasure more
than lovers of God, having a form
of godliness, but denying the
power thereof, from such turn
away. For this sort are they
which creep into houses and
lead captive silly women laden
with sins, led away with divers
lusts, which war against the
soul. “
There are many more warn-
ings. Study your Bible. IThes. 5:
21 “Prove all things. “
