District FFA Officers serve a
vital function in the FFA. By tak-
ing a major leadership role, these
students grow from the experi-
ence and benefit the district. It
should be the officers’ goal to
lead by example and encourage
other members to participate in
FFA activities.
On April 14th, at the Piney
Woods District FFA Convention,
14 candidates from area schools
competed to become FFA Presi-
dent of the Piney Woods District.
All students had to submit an ap-
plication, endure a tough inter-
view process, write a paper on a
topic given to them that day, take
a difficult test over the FFA, and
give a speech in front of the en-
tire Piney Woods District.
Macy Kaye Nix of the
Timpson FFA Chapter showed
her leadership qualities and
proved to everyone why she
should be a District Officer.
Macy earned the office of Secre-
tary of the Piney Woods District
and will serve the 25 other
schools in the District over the
next year. Macy has showed hard
work and dedication throughout
the past year by participating in
many events in the FFA and other
areas as well. Macy has been a
part of the Timpson FFA Show
Team for the past 4 years, show-
ing Shorthorn and Charolais
Heifers and winning numerous
awards along the way. She also
was Timpson’s high scorer in the
Area IV Fivestock judging con-
test. Macy is active in many other
school activities as well. She has
been on the Varsity basketball,
volleyball, and cheerleading
teams. In addition to everything
else, Macy starred in the UIF
Play “The Secret Affairs of
Mildred Wild” in the lead role
earning All Star Cast many
times; she placed 2nd in district
Prose Interpretation in UIF Com-
petition.
Macy has been a great leader
not only for the Timpson ISD but
the Community as well. We
would like to congratulate Macy
on a job well done and wish her
the best of luck leading the Piney
Woods District in the upcoming
year.
