Tragedy can bring
awareness
The Scripture says:
“In this you greatly rejoice,
though now for a little while
you may have to suffer grief
and all kinds of trials. These
have come so your faith of
greater worth than gold may
be proved genuine and may
result in praise and glory and
honor when Jesus is revealed.
So when tragedy strikes it hits
the great and small there are
no exceptions. Tragedy as
nothing opens our eyes to our
weaknesses and our fragility
and our utter defenselessness.
At times we all need this
awareness, it helps us be
more humble, more in touch,
more
sensitive.
Tragedy in
our own
lives
prepares us
to minister
to the lives
of others1
who suffer Mark Sloan
as well. No
one ever seeks grief or trials,
but they do not come into a live
of a Christian without bringing
some value also. When you hit
the wall, remember that the
Lord can even use that tough
experience for your benefit.

The sermon was titled “Dark
Night of the Soul”. If you
missed the sermon, visit the web
site to read it or contact Pastor
Jim Bradley for a cassette tape
of the sermon. We had many visi-

pating in her 50 year class re-
union, Charles & Sharon Pollard,
Jane Weatherby, Ty & Trey

Youth meet on Sunday evenings
from 6:00 pm until about 8:00pm.
There is Bible study, games and
ing aluminum cans as a fund rais-
ing project. You can drop off
cans at the backdoor of the fel-
lowship hall at any time. The
fund raisers are to help pay for
their fellowship meals on Sun-
day nights and to buy group t-
shirts and fund their mission trip
and other outings this coming
summer. Pastor Bradley started
a Bible study class. The second
meeting was Monday, October
18 at 7:00pm. This study is en-
titled “Interpreting the Bible
101”. The class is open to the
community. Ten made it to the
class this week. Next Monday
the group plans to work on in-
terpreting several different pas-
suggested this week. Remember
if you have any news or articles
to submit for the Tenaha
Wesleyan give them to the pas-
tor for consideration for the next
addition. Several members are
ready to schedule a regular game
night. I saw a new deck of
canasta cards. Prayer requests
continue for many individuals
and families in our community.
The list is printed on the back of
the bulletin. Memorials were re-
ceived for Brother George
Helton. Several church families
have extended members with ill-
nesses. Meditation: Ifyou can’t
sleep, don’t count sheep, talk to
the shepherd.

What do all Texas judges have in common?
Dress Codes
School has just opened . We
see where each school has its
own dress code. Did you know
that since Eve ate of the fruit
from the tree in the midst of
the garden of Eden that it has
been clear that nakedness was
not to God’s liking and man
knew it:? Gen. 3: 7-10 “And
the eyes of them both were
opened and they knew that
they were naked, and they
sewed fig leaves together and
made themselves aprons. And
they heard the voice of the
Lord God walking in the
garden in the cool of the day
and Adam and his wife hid
themselves from the presence
of the Lord God amongst the
trees of the garden. And the
Lord called unto Adam and
said to him, where art thou?
And he said, I heard thy voice
in the garden and I was afraid
because I was naked, and I
hid myself.” Gen 3:21 “Unto
Adam and to his wife did the
Lord God make coats of skins
and clothed them.” Describing
the virtuous woman, Prov. 31:
21,22 “She is not afraid of the
snow for her household: for
her household is clothed with
scarlet. She maketh herself
coverings of tapestry, her
clothing is silk and purple.” I
Tim. 2: 9 “ In like manner also,
that women adorn themselves
in modest apparel, with
shamefacedness and sobriety,
not with broidered hair or gold
or pearls or costly array.” No
where do we find “dress and
others do.” If everybody else
were jumping into tire, would
you want to jump also? I think
not. Just because there is only
a few scriptures stating we
must be clothed modestly does
it give us an excuse for
nakedness. Once said should
be enough. Beauty is as beauty
does, not as manly fashion
demand. School dress code
usually has something to say
about the hair styles, so does
the Bible. ICor. 11: 14, 15
“Doth not even nature itself
teach you, that if a man have
long hair, it is a shame unto him?
But if a woman have long hair,
it is a glory to her:: for her hair
was given to her for a
covering. But if any man seen
to be contentious, we have no
such custom, neither the
churches of God.”
They are all state magistrates.
Municipal judges and justices of
the peace perform more magistrate
duties than all other members of
the judiciary combined. Magis-
trates serve an important gate-
keeping function in the adjudica-
tion of all criminal matters (misde-
meanors and felonies).
All municipal court judges in
Texas are required to attend train-
ing. During the first year of serv-
ing as a judge, a judge must at-
tend 32-hours of training. Each
year after the initial training they
must attend 12-hours of training.
These training requirements ap-
ply even if you also serv e as city
mayor or serve as a justice of the
peace. All justice of the peace
judges also have mandatory train-
ing that they must participate in
on an annual basis. The closest
location to our area offering the
12-hour regional municipal court
judges conference is October 21st
and 22nd in Tyler, Texas. In our
area many of the municipal court
judges will not be in their courts
during this time but will be at-
tending mandatory training.
Some of the topics being covered
at this training are Juvenile Al-
cohol Offenses, Language Inter-
preters, Federal and State Case
Law Update, Driver’s License Of-
fenses, 21st Century Traffic Dilem-
mas: Things with Wheels, Ordi-
nance Issues: Junked Vehicles,
Ethics: TV Justice and Reality in
the Courtroom, Ordinance Issues:
Rubbish and Refuse, and Magis-
trate Duties: Juvenile Statements.

Tenaha Church of Christ
By Clark Partin
What a beautiful Sunday
following the Tenaha Home-
coming weekend. Cecilia
Ritter is home from the hospi-
tal, but is staying with Becky
and Ron at this time. Our
prayers go out to her each
day. We surely missed Fred
Spurlock at church. He has
been feeling ill these past few
weeks. I hope that his birth-
day made him feel better and
we are praying for him to get
back on his feet. Fran has
been recuperating from her
knee surgery and seems to be
doing better this week. She is
hoping to be in church on Sun-
day. Aubrey’s lesson was on
how special emphasis was put
upon those who go astray and
need repentance. In Luke
15:1 -10, it begins by saying that
tax collectors and sinners
were gathered around to hear
Jesus. Luke 15:2 says, “ But

the Pharisees and the teach-
ers of the law muttered, “This
man welcomes sinners and
eats with them.” Then Jesus
told them this parable: “Sup-
pose one of you have one hun-
dred sheep and loses one of
them. Does not he leave the
ninety-nine in the open coun-
try and go after the lost sheep
until he finds it. And when he
finds it he joyfully puts it on
his shoulder and goes home.
Then he calls his friends and
neighbors together and says,
“Rejoice with me, I have
found my sheep. I tell you that
in the same way there will be
more rejoicing in heaven over
one sinner who repents than
over ninety-nine righteous
who do not need to repent.”
People deal with similar
situations when a child is lost
in a store. We drop everything
to look for that missing child.
Then when found, rejoicing
takes place because we are
glad to have the missing per-
son back with us. Many people
that become “lost” may be un-
willing to be restored. Jesus did
not say that ninety-nine sheep
were not important, the entire
flock was important.
It is easy to see from the I
Corinthians, discourse con-
cerning the Man living in an
incestuous relationship, that
this is the case. By accepting
the sin of this man into the
Church, it was casting a bad
report on all of them, and serv-
ing to leave the man in his sin.
In Corinthians 5, their remedy
was to expel him from the
Church, but not as a means of
punishment, but for protection
of the flock and to bring the
man to repentance and to help
him see the seriousness of the
transgression and to repent.
By the way Paul tells us that
the above story has a happy
Seated at the head table of The Delta Kappa Gamma
Society International Area
I Workshop held in Center,
were Marilyn Barry, State
Yearbook Chairman; Pat

ending. Paul says that the
man was repentant and the
church should enter into that
time of rejoicing with him.
Today’s lesson taught that
as All are important to the
flock in God’s eyes, so should
All be important in our eyes.
We should be quick to recog-
nize when a brother is in
trouble. We should pay atten-
tion to our brothers and sis-
ters and react quickly if one
becomes “lost” or in trouble.
The enemy is out there to de-
vour the “lost” that wanders
from the fields.
The best way to deal with
the “lost”, is to help them from
getting “lost” in the first place.
We meet each Sunday at
11:00am and 5:00pm.
Also on Wednesday
evening at 7:00pm.
Your are always welcome.
