It’s getting time for youngsters to let Santa Claus know
what they would like to see under their Christ-
. 1 mas tree on Christmas morning.
One way to do that is to write to the
Palacios Beacons “Letters to Santa”
section to be published Christmas
week. The deadline for submitting a
A “Letter to Santa” for publication is 5
p.m. 1 hursday, Dec. 6.
Letters may be mailed to the Palacios Beacon at P. O. Box
817, Palacios, Tx. 77465 or brought by the Beacon office
at 453 Commerce.
Letters should be legibly printed and include the child’s
first and last name. Letters will not be corrected for misspell-
ings. The Beacon will attempt to publish as many letters
as space permits in the Wednesday, Dec. 19 issue.
Winter Mini-Term, Spring semester
registration at WCJC now underway
Wharton County Junior
College is currently register-
ing for the Winter Mini-Term
and the Spring 2013 semes-
ter. Students may register on
campus or on the web now
through Dec. 13 for the Win-
ter Mini-Term.
Students may register now
through Jan. 24 online for the
spring semester and should
visit the college’s website for
on-campus registration dates.
Winter Mini-Term classes
begin Dec. 17 and Spring
classes begin Jan. 22.
Wharton County Junior
College offers an associate in
arts degree for those intend-
ing to transfer to a four-year
institution, associate of arts
in teaching degree, associate
in applied science degrees,
and certificate programs. Dis-
tance education courses are
available through the web,
and interactive television.

pus. The college also offers
classes at the Bay City cam-
pus.
GED testing being offered at
WCJC campus in BC Dec. 7th
The Bay City campus of
Wharton County Junior Col-
lege will offer GED testing
on Dec. 7 beginning at 9 a.m.
Registration for the test is re-
quired and takes place from 9
a.m.-3 p.m. Monday (Dec. 3)
at the Bay City campus, 4000
Avenue F in Bay City.
Area residents who wish
to register for the test should
bring a valid, government-is-
sued photo ID. Those under
18 need a withdrawal form
from high school and must be
accompanied by their parent
or guardian. Other forms are
required depending on the
age of the test-taker. Cost for
first time test-takers is $80
and $13 to re-take a test.
As part of the registration
process, an online demo-
graphic survey is required.

The GED testing program
is the only high school equiv-
alency credential recognized
by all 50 states.

SELECTED as Rotary Club Students of the Month
for November at Palacios High School were Jose Ji-
menez and Paige Olivia Stuhrenberg.
Paige is the daughter of Stephen and Michele
Stuhrenberg. She is the FFA President, 4-H President,
a varsity cheerleader, varsity powerlifter, and is active
in Art Club, NHS, and POWERSET. After graduation
she plans to attend Texas A&M University to study in
Ag communications and journalism.
Jose is the son of Aida and Felipe Jimenez. He is ac-
tive in NHS, Student Council, LEO Club, and a mem-
ber of the Shark football and powerlifting teams. After
graduation he plans to attend Texas A&M University
and major in Petroleum Engineering and Business

Lost and found: we have ac-
quired 3 jump drives plus one
cell phone so if you are missing
any of these items come by and
see if they are yours. There are
other things which we have in
our Lost and Found Box that
need to be claimed.
By the time you read this
Thanksgiving will be over
so I hope you had a great
Thanksgiving and enjoyed
visiting with your family and
friends, and eating your favor-
ite foods.
Last week during Pre-K
Story Hour Miss Vikijane
talked about the celebration of
Thanksgiving and how some of
the traditions got started. She
read Olivia Talks Turkey by
Farrah McDoogle and every-
one made pinecone turkeys.
Next week we will begin
talking more about Christmas
along with various other holi-
days that occur in December,
we will make a Christmas
ornament each week.
Each Tuesday at 10 a.m. all
children not attending school
are welcome to come and
learn about holidays, seasons,
numbers, colors etc. We will be
reading and doing crafts.
Each week every child
will be able to choose a new
book from First Book. Home
schoolers are welcome. If you
would like to sign your child up
for our after school homework
program we have applica-
tions available or for more
information call the library at
972-3234. We have a few short
weeks before the Christmas
break but we will begin again
after the holidays.
