Negro Troops Leave
Waco For Columbus.
Waco, Texas, Aug. 25.—A ne-
gro battalion of the Twenty-
Fourth Infantry, stationed at
Gamp McArthur for about four
weeks, entrained this afternoon
for Columbus N. M., where they
and the negro soldiers who have
been doing guard duty at Hous-
ton were ordered yesterday by
Major General James Parker,
this-being one of the last official
acts of General Parker before he
relinquished command of the
Southern Department, to assume
command of Camp McArthur
today. There were about 626
soldiers in the party leaving here
