Jennie Doze
Funeral services for Jennie
Margaret Williams Doze, 50, of
Houston were held at 1:30 p.m.
Thursday at the Galilee Baptist
Church with the Rev. John W.
Williams officiating. Burial was in
the Galilee Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jessie Riley,
D.C. Sims, Sutton Spigner, Ray C.
Woods Jr., Ricky Gates and H.
Stone. ^Honorary pallbearers were
members of the Ebenezer Baptist
Church.
Mrs. Doze died Saturday, June 21,
at her home in Houston.
She was bom Oct. 30, 1935, the
daughter of Raymond Williams and
Ruby Wilbourn Williams. She
married Clifton McKinney and later
married Archie Doze.
She was a member of the New
Pleasant Green Baptist Church in
Houston.
Survivors include a daughter,
Consettra McKinney of Houston; a
son, Clifton Andree McKinney of
Houston; her mother, Ruby O. Stone
of Wolfe City; and a sister, Clara Sue
Silas of Houston.
Tapp Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
Faye Stubbs Haynes
Funeral services for Faye Stubbs
Haynes, 80, of Fort Worth, formerly
of Hopkins County, were held at 11
a.m. Thursday in the Murray-
Orwosky Funeral Home chapel with
the Rev. William Potts officiating.
Burial was in the Greenview
Cemetery
Pallbearers were Rodney Hinton,
Wesley Haynes, Edward Haynes,
Daniel Haynes, William Wallace and
Tommy Dale Judge.
The family will receive friends
from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home
Mrs. Haynes died Monday in
North Hills Medical Center, Fort-
Worth
She was bom May 13, 1906, in
Hopkins County, the daughter of
William and Wattle Cutts Stubbs.
She was a housewife and a
member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son. Lewis
Deon Haynes of Fort Worth; three
brothers, D C. Stubbs and Esco
Stubbs, both of Garland: and Curren
E. Stubbs of Bonanza; three sisters,
Vera Clem of Miller Grove, 1-eta
1-ong of Bonanza and Wenona
Vawter of Antioch, Calif.; nine
grandchildren; and four great-
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five
children.
William Butts
Funeral services for William
Eugene Butts, 61, of 610 Ingram,
were held Wednesday in the Tapp
Funeral Home chapel-with the Rev.
Mike Brown officiating. Graveside
services were held Friday in the
New Goshion Cemetery in Terre
Haute, Ind
Mr. Butts died Sunday in Hopkins
County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 4. 1924, in
Illinois, the son of Jesse Butts and
Talitha ft Cash Butts. He married

She premled him in death in 1978.
He was a member of the Wesley-
United Methodist Church, Masonic
Lodge, Shriners, Scottish Rite and
Swords of Bunker Hill. He served in
the U.S. Navy in World War II.
He was employed at Furr’s
Cafeteria
Survivors include two sons, Gary
Butts of Sulphur Springs and David
Butts of Dallas; two daughters.
Kennetha Butts of Terre Haute, Ind.,
and Vonda Guinn of Springfield,
Mo.; seven grandchildren; and two
brothers, Neal Butts and James
Butts, both of Illinois.
Mittie Hinkle
Funeral services for Mrs. Mittie
E. Hinkle, 73, of Route 4, Sulphur
Springs, were held Tuesday in the
Tapp Funeral Home chapel with the
Rey. J.C. Smithers officiating.
Burial was in the Mount Sterling
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Averal Bledsoe,
Wayne Bledsoe, James Parker,
Charlie Cantrell, David Robinson,
Robby Clifton and Floyd Hamm Jr.
Mrs. Hinkle died Saturday in
Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
She was bom Sept. 12, 1912, in
Mount Vernon, the daughter of
Martin and Della Hale Clifton. She
married James R. Hinkle Oct. 27,
1934, in Sulphur Bluff. He survives.
She was a member of the Oakland
Presbyterian Church.
Other survivors include two sons,
Jerry Hinkle of Garland and
Spencer Hinkle of Sulphur Springs;
four grandchildren; two step-
grandehildren; four step-great-
grand/hildren; a brother, Edgar
Clifton of Brashear; and three
slaters, Nobie Hays and Syble
Gamblin, both of Sulphur Springs,
ueyifren of Kemut
She was preceded in death by a
daughter, Cynthia Hinkle; two
brothers, Carlton Clifton and Zack
Clifton; and a sister, Ivie Jones.
Clyde Jones
Graveside services for Gyde E.
"Tex” Jones, 69, of Chehalis, Wash.,
and formerly of Hopkins County
were held in February in
Washington.
Mr. Jones died in February after a
brief illness.
He was bom June 6, 1916, in
Cundif, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Jones.
He was a former Hopkins County
resident and attended Travis
Elementary School. He also lived in
Wichita Falls, moving to
Washington after World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie
of Chehalis, Wash.; and Sulphur
Springs cousins, Wayne Jones, Mrs.
Eula Jones, Shug Chester and Jewell
Jones Brumfield.
Marvin V. Sapaugh
Graveside services for Marvin V.
Sapaugh of San Angelo were held in
Clyde Sunday, June 16, with the Rev.
Riley Fugitt and Dr. Arthur Travis
officiating.
Mr. Sapaugh died at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 14, at the Baptist
Geriatrics Hospital in San Angelo.
He was 75.
He was bom March 26, 1911, in
Hopkins County, the son of Victor
and Lilah Prim Sapaugh.
Mr. Sapaugh was a member of the
Baptist church. He had been market
manager for M System stores since
1950.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen
Cannon Sapaugh of San Angelo; a
son, Marvin Wayne Sapaugh of Fort
Worth; a daughter, Ramona
Thedford of Brownwood; a brother,
Howard Sapaugh; two sisters,
Maurine Sapaugh Avinger of
Sulphur Springs and Polly Sapaugh
Hal] of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and four
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two
grandchildren, Stephen A. Sapaugh
and Kimberlv Brown.

Funeral services for Nina Watson
Munselle of Wetumka, Okla., for-
merly of Sulphur Springs, were held
Friday in Wetumka
Graveside services were Saturday
in the Rockdale Cemetery. Tapp
Funeraj.Home was in charge of local
arrangements.
Mrs Munselle was bom May 9,
1923, the daughter of Cody and Soney
Watson.
Survivors include her husband,
I-ee Munselle of Wetumka, Okla.;
two brothers, Willie Watson and
Paul Watson, both of Sulphur
Springs; and two sisters, Gladys
Christenson of I-ewisville and Betty
McGuyer of Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her
parents.
Mrs. Chitsey
Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie
I-.E. Chitsey of 411 Airport Road
were held Friday in the Tapp
Funeral Home chapel with the Rev.
Garry Jordan officiating. Burial was
in the Pine Forest Cemetery.
Mrs. Chitsey died Wednesday in
Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
She was 81.
She was bom Nov. 2, 1904, in
Hopkins County, the daughter of
Henry and Ellin Bell Hams Parnell.
She married Virus Turner Chitsey
Dec. 26, 1925, in Winfield. He
preceded her in death.
Mrs. Chitsey was a housewife and
a member of the Calvary Baptist
Church.
Local survivors include a sister-in-
law, Mrs. Ernest Parnell of Sulphur
Springs; and a nephew, Buddy
Parnell of Sulphur Springs.
Billy D. Hathcoat
Funeral services for Billy Don
Hathcoat, 18, of Route 1, Emory,
were held Wednesday at the
Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church
Number One in Emory with the Rev.
Murphy Walker officiating and
Bruce Taylor assisting. Burial was
in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery'.
Hathcoat died Monday, June 23, at
East Fork Ranch Road in Emory.
He was bom Sept. 21, 1967 in
Hopkins County, the son of Billy
Wayne Hathcoat and Lou Coulter
Hathcoat.
He was employed as a service
station mechanic.
Survivors include his parents, Mr..
and Mrs. Billy Wayne Hathcoat of
Emory; a brother, Julius Jerome
Hathcoat of Emory; ^two sisters,
Tracy Hathcoat and Dixie Lee
Hathcoat, both of Emory; and
grandmother, Earzie Rozell
Hathcoat of Point.
The Wilson-Orwosky-Stinson
Funeral Home in Emory was in
charge of arrangements.
Joseph Bohannon Jr.
Funeral services for Joseph E.
Bohannon Jr., 51, of Oklahoma City,
Okla., formerly of Sulphur Springs,
were held Tuesday in the Grace
United Methodist Church in
Oklahoma City, Okla. Graveside
services were conducted Wednesday
in the Sulphur Springs City
Cemetery.
Mr. Bohannon died Saturday in
Oklahoma.
He was bom in Sulphur Springs,
the son of Joe and Bonnie Bohannon.
He married Elaine Bertram in 1958
in Hobbs N.M. She survives.
He was a graduate of Sulphur
Springs High School and Texas Tech
University. He was a member of the
Grace United'Methodist Church.
Mr. Bohannon was a petroleum
engineer for Occidental Oil Com-
pany for the past 11 years.
Other survivors include a son,
Joseph Bohannon ni of Oklahoma
City, Okla.; and a daughter, Sally
Stoldt of Ardmore, Okla.
Tapp Funeral Home was in charge
of local arrangements.

Ben L. Johnson of Sulphur Springs,
was named as the Outstanding Senior
at Cooper High School, along with
Donna Glossup. Floyd was active in
student government, sports and
academic societies during his four
years at CHS.
TOM BELL, a local dentist, will be
installed as president of the local
Rotary Club during the group's noon
meeting Thursday at the Woman's '
Building. He will succeed C. Glynn
Lowe, 1985-86 club president.

landmark, is currently celebrating its
100th anniversary, thanks in part to a

Mack Pogue. Lincoln Properties,
owned by Pogue, purchased The
Driskill in 1983 and immediately-
initiated a $4.5 million renovation
that was designed to blend modem
day amenities with traditional

DAN FRONEBERGER of Sulphur
Springs has been named to the list of
Who’s Who Among American High
School Students for the second con-
secutive year. Froneberger was
selected on his outstanding scholastic
achievements. The son of Mr. and
Mrs. Murry Froneberger is a recent
graduate of Sulphur Springs High
School and plans to attend Murray-
State College in Tishomingo, Okla., in
the fall.
A $750,000 grant for the con-
struction of an airport in Franklin
County has been approved by the
Federal Atiation Administration.
Sen. Phil Gramm made the an-
nouncement of the FAA's decision
Thursday morning.
A FUND to help defray medical
costs has been established for Danny
Ingram of Cumby who was critically
injured in an automobile accident
Wednesday, June 11. Ingram, 21, is a
patient in Baylor Medical Center in
Dallas. He is married to the former •
