Mr. and Mrs. Glen Crews of Rusk announce the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter,
Elizabeth Lynette of Springfield, Mo., to Russell Scott
Burtch of Arvada, Colo. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Burtch of Brashear. The couple are planning to exchange
vows at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, in the First United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Gaither Day officiating.
Friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend.
June Wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Dixon'of Sulphur Springs announce
the engagement and approaching marriage of their
daughter, Sara Alicia, to James Aubrey Thompson of the
United States Navy. The prospective bridegroom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry C. Thompson of Royce City. The
couple plan to be married at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 21, in the
Posey Baptist Church. Friends and relatives are invited to
attend.
Joan and Clyde Browning of
Detroit, Mich., visited recently with
Mrs. Vera Orr, before going to
Lubbock for a visit with relatives and
to Austin to visit jheir son Clyde Jr.
and family.

Faye Milford of Houston visited
Ruby and Tommy Sanderson a few
days last week.
J.E. “Jake” Drummond of Dallas
visited Mrs. Lydia Gregg a couple of

Ruby Smiddy of Tira, our Nina
Oxford, and her grandson Mark
Phillips, Mack and Betty’s of Sulphur
Springs, were in Turkey, Texas — the
Amarillo-Childress area — for the
weekend of the 15th Annual Memorial
for the late, famous Bob Wills and his^
boys who have been so loyal as a \
family of musicians and singers
throughout the years. Turkey is Bob’s
hometown and each year on the last
weekend in April people from near
and far gather for this occasion. A
week could be spent sight-seeing
Bob’s Monument with a fiddle atop of
it, the museum, the Friday night
dance that approximately 2,000
people were dancing on the floor at
one time, the Saturday parade, the
barbecue dinner, and on and on for
hours of interesting talk with those
who have been there.
Julie and Pat Weir of Granbury
spent the weekend with Lou Jane,
Max and Steve Drummond. Julie and
Lou Jane attended the bridal shower
for Sherri Brice Sunday afternoon at
the Tira Community Center.

The Hopkins County Grand Jury
has returned several new in-
dictments, according to District
Attorney Frank Long.
Indicted were John Alvin Crowson
Jr. of Spring, charged with hindering
a creditor; and Vince Canaday of
Dallas, for burglary of a building.
Also Hugh Anthony Wood of 401
Peach St., Sulphur Springs, for
possession of a prohibited weapon
and possession of a controlled sub-
stance; and Ricky Lynn Davis of
Route 2, Box 457, Sulphur Springs, for
felony theft of property.
Also Vernon Eugene Apple of
Greenville for three charges of
forgery; Janice Honey Rogers and
Jeffrey Allen Rogers, Route 2, Box 88,
Saltillo, both for dog fighting; Robert
Ritchie of Route 2, Box 455, Sulphur
Springs, for burglary of a habitation
and two charges of aggravated
assault.

City High School and is self-employed. The couple will wed
at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 14, in the First Baptist Church,

native, has been named manager of
the local Piggly Wiggly store.
A1971 graduate of East Texas State
University, Kirkpatrick has been
employed with the grocery store 13
years.
He served as manager 24years
eartier and as assistant gianager for
the past six months.

marriage of their daughter, Sharon Lynne,
to Darren Craig Prentice, son of Mr. and
Mrs. James L. Prentice, also of Hillsboro.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs.
Onie V. (Mae) Hale of Sulphur Springs and
Mrs. James C. (Lois) R^mack of Brashear.
Both are 1981 graduates of Hillsboro High
School and 1985 graduates of Texas Tech
University. The couple plan to be married
Saturday, June 7, in the First United
Methodist Church of Hillsboro. Following a
wedding trip to Lake Tahoe and San Fran-
cisco, the couple will reside in Tyler.
