Class of'67 girls reunite,reminisce
By Stormy Humphries
Armstrong
Celebrating almost 50
years of friendships, the
“girls of “67” gathered to
visit, laugh, reminiscence
and make new memories.
The luncheon was held in
the foyer of the First United
Methodist Church.
Beautiful summer
arrangements enhanced
the burlap topped tale set
with gold flatware and
vintage Fostoria plates.
After the salad luncheon,
guests were presented with
colorful small booklets
filled with names, addresses,
phone numbers and each
guest added their personal
email address.
The party was hosted by
Barbara Campbell
Humphries, Stormy
Humphries Armstrong, Pat
McConnell Sharp and Janis
Hancock Keith.
Others in attendance
were: Janie Keith Barnes,
Irene Barnett Bowers, Joy
Smith Clark, Ruby Keith
Cooper, Linda Shafer
Greenway, Judy Wilson
James, Phyllis Myers
Morton, Kay Gilbreath
Stephen, Pat Thiebaud
Stevens, Hilda Allen
Swindle, and Lavona Jones
Wilbom.
Of the 25 remaining
classmates, 15 were in
attendance and the former
friends from the class were
remembered fondly, Pam
Warner, Laura Fine and
Joann Cox.
The afternoon was spent
recalling classroom antics,
football games and
childhood memories filling
the room with laughter and
a few tears.
Many started first grade
together, others came in
later, a few moved away,
some returned, some
married while others
remained for all 12 years in
the beautiful old rock
building of Dublin Schools.
Old annuals, Lions Roar
and newspaper clippings
were the center of attention.
Dresses were short, short-
shorts were “in”, cat eye
glasses were the rage, the
Beatles hit the charts and
we all had stories about the
Drive-In Movies. Gratefully,
we didn’t have twitter!!
Teachers were discussed-
some even fondly- and the
bossy girls were still in
stride. Don’t you know the
boys from this class would
have loved to have been
flies on the wall! Sorry guys
were planning another girl’s
party next summer.

The Dublin Public library
will be closed on Saturday,
August 31 for Labor Day
observance. Just a reminder
that library hours are
Tuesday-Friaay 9AM-6PM
and Saturday 9 a.m.-2 pm.
Even for patroas who don’t
have school age children or
grands, “back-to-school"
signals a more regular
schedule for community,
church, and social activities.
Also, we are only 12 weeks
from Fhanksgiving and 15
from Christmas.
Let the Dublin Public-
library provide materials
and services that will help
budget both time and money
during the busy weeks ahead.
FREE access to the public-
computers along with
assistance from the staff can
be a very valuable resource
for all ages.
High traffic time for the
library and especially the
computers is the after school
hour. For patrons who aren’t
locked into school schedules
call the library at 445-4141
to inquire about what days
and times are less crowded.
Wonderful cookbooks,
craft and how-to books along
with newspapers and
magazines are at the ready

as well as management ideas
to whip overloaded agendas
into better order. Materials
from the library are FREE!

Cont’d from A2
are tremendous vocational
schools as well as
apprenticeships available.
And thanks to the
internet, those are more
accessible than ever.
And I hope that parents
and young people have
saved to pay for college.
All these loans have to be
paid back and it’s
unfortunate to see students
come out of school saddled
with debt before they can
get their life on track.
Don't forget to look for
scholarships and financial
aid. It’s out there. There
have been a number of
people who’ve been able to
find that help and come
out of college debt free.
Things to think about.
Thanks for reading.
